Gary John Gunckel, age 77 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 7:43 AM Thursday May 4, 2017 at his residence. Gary was born May 17, 1939 in Bradford, Ohio to the late John Harold Gunckel and Mildred (Sponaugle) Gunckel Roberts.
He retired from Darke Rural Electric Cooperative after 37 years of service as a lineman and line foreman. He also was a charter captain on Lake Erie for 7 years. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, boating camping, traveling and playing cards. Gary and his wife traveled over most of the United States and wintered in Mission, Texas for 14 years. He was a past member of the OHIO NOMADS, Ft. Greenville Campers and the Family Motor Coach Association and a current member of the Greenville Moose Lodge.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his infant brother Donnie.
Gary is survived by his wife Goldie (Sleppy) Gunckel of Greenville. They were married June 6, 1959, and their children: Connie (Jerry) Anthony of Bradford, Ohio, Deborah (Hershel) Fee of Rainsville, Alabama and Gary L. (Melissa) Gunckel of Wagoner, Oklahoma; grandchildren Tiffany (Stanford) Carson, Daniel Fee, Jordan (Emily) Fee, Troy and Leah Gunckel and Ashley and Randy Anthony; great grandchildren Braxton and Jackson Fee and Madison Carson; sister Kay (Tim) Means of Arcanum, Ohio ; brother Larry (Sandy) Gunckel of Greenville, Ohio as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday May 8, 2017 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Dale Boeger officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday May 7, 2017 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM in the funeral home.
