Eva Mae Hartzell, age 99 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 9:03 PM at the Brethren Retirement Community, Greenville, Ohio. She was born on February 15, 1911 in Sparta, Ohio to the late Charles “Charlie” Clinton & Mary Cenora (Chase) Easterday.
Eva worked as a school teacher. She was a member of the First Congregational Christian Church, NARFE, Retired Teachers Association, Smithsonian Club, Queen Bees at the BRC. Eva also sang in the choir at the BRC and attended the council meetings. She sang duets with Mrs. Grote.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Hartzell; daughter, Nola Mae Hartzell; sister & brother in law, Alta Bell & Emmett Lewis Stump.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Mary Jane & Gary E. Crumrine of Greenville, OH; son and daughter in law, Daniel & Emily Hartzell of Lancaster, CA; grandchildren, Gary L. & Cheryl Crumrine, Daniel C. & Cindy Hartzell, Nola Mae Crumrine, Laura & John Salsido III and Kimberly Hartzell; great grandchildren, Kari Crumrine, Sharon Ward, Serena Salsido, Audrey Salsido and Matthew Salsido; nephew, Wib Stump; great nephews, Kyle Stump and Kent (Debbie) Stump.
There will be a service held on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the First Congregational Christian Church, 115 West 5th Street, Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Doug Krauss, Pastor Todd Reish, Pastor Bob Bitner, and Pastor Joe Soley officiating. Burial will be in the Greenville Cemetery, Greenville, OH at the convenience of the family. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 from 5-7 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville as well as one half hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
It is the wishes of the family that Memorial Contributions be given to the Gideon Society.
