Lester G. McKinney age 99 of Sidney, Ohio, passed away at 10:20 A.M. on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Fair Haven Shelby County Home in Sidney. Lester was born January 26, 1911 in Houston, Ohio, to the late Charles E. & Clara J. (Mader) McKinney.Lester was a lifetime farmer; substitute mail carrier for 9 years in the Russia-Houston area; and worked for 20 years in the Agricultural Stabilization & Conservation Service Office in Sidney. Lester served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Lester was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Versailles. He was a Loramie Township Trustee for 16 years.
In addition to his parents, Lester is also preceded in death by his wife, Erma Mae (Wintringham) McKinney on January 14, 1996, whom he married January 18, 1941; and twin brother, Chester McKinney on August 17, 1998.
Lester is survived by a daughter & son-in-law, Ruth & Elmer Trapp of Sidney; grandchildren, Dawn & Steve Frasure of Sidney, Dale E. Schutte & wife Missy of Sidney, Donna & Ham Cole of Anna and Ronda Schutte of Sidney; 8 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; and a sister, Martha Routson of Sidney.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Keith Falk officiating. Burial will follow in Houston Cemetery in Houston. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Saturday from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Versailles.
