Winifred “Winnie” Applegate Netzley age 96, of Greenville and formerly of Bradford passed away at 9:42 P.M. on Monday, May 2, 2016 at Oakley Place in Greenville. Winnie was born January 25, 1920 in Darke County to the late Robert & Grace (Brumbaugh) Applegate.
Winnie is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, David & Patricia Netzley of Bradford and Joseph & Kelly Netzley of Englewood; grandchildren, Matthew & Katie Netzley, Jeremiah & Gwendolyn Netzley, Kristen Netzley, Kris Edwards, Kody Edwards, Brandon Yount, Russell Yount, Daniel & Andrea Netzley – U.S. Army and Christopher & Amy Netzley; great-grandchildren, Brooke Netzley, Tyler Netzley, Renee Netzley, Jenna Netzley, Gavin Penny, Landen Penny and Henry Netzley expected this month; sister, Patricia Showalter of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Winnie was also preceded in death by her husband, Jerald E. Netzley on April 19, 2006 whom she married November 11, 1941; sons, Jonathan and Timothy Netzley; and sister, Mary Shields.
Winnie was a homemaker and nurse’s aide. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pitsburg where she played the organ for over 40 years. Winnie was very passionate about family, music, goats and loved her birds.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church 8520 Oakes Road Pitsburg with Pastor Mel Musser officiating. Burial will follow in Gettysburg Cemetery in Gettysburg. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville and Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. at the church.
