Mr. James G. Snyder, age 87, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Monday, September 20, 2010 at 11:35 AM at the Brethren Retirement Community, Greenville, Ohio. He was born March 29, 1923 at Lightsville, Ohio, to the late Clarence Evert and Hazel D-Light (McKibben) Snyder.
James retired from Corning where he worked in the accounting department. He was a member of the United States Army serving in World War II and also was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Greenville.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by wife, Mary Snyder whom he married on September 29, 1946; and brother, Jack Snyder.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Carolyn and Thaddens Shore of Fairfax Station, Virginia, Paul Snyder of Sidney, Ohio, Mark and Barbara Snyder of Greenville, Ohio, John and Paula Snyder of Greenville, Ohio, and Janet Koon of Greenville, Ohio; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a service held on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville with Pastor Wayne Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Lisbon Cemetery in Union City, Indiana. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. There will be a Graveside Military Service conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard.
It is the wishes of the family that memorial contributions be given to State of the Heart Hospice.
