Mr. John P. Simon age 80 of Versailles, Ohio passed away on Friday September 24, 2010 at 2:16 PM at Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio. He was born December 22, 1929 in Willowdell, Ohio the son of the late Leo A. and Clara E. (Barga) Simon.
He and along with his brothers owned the lifelong family business Willowdell Sales. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving in the Korean War. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus of Versailles, and Osgood American Legion. He was a graduate of Miami Jacobs Business School.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Grandson: Christopher Charles Agne; Brothers: Robert and Richard Simon; Sisters: Helen Muzleski, Doris Kowalski, Kathleen Simon, Mary Jane Magoto.
He is survived by his wife: Jeanette “Jeanne” (Bianchi) Simon of Versailles whom he married September 18, 1954; Daughters and sons in law: Monica and Jeffrey Agne of Troy, Ohio, Lynne and Michael Ward of Pineville, N.C., Lori and Scott Sevick of Bellview, Nebraska; grandchildren and spouse: Jessica and Ken Koch, Craig Agne and Fiancé Julia Jones, Johnathan Sevick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held on Tuesday September 28, 2010 at 10:30 AM at St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles, Ohio with Rev. Fr. David Vincent Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles, Ohio. Family will receive friends from 2:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday September 27, 2010 at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio. A Prayer service will be conducted by the Versailles Knights of Columbus on Monday at 7:30 PM at the funeral home, Veterans graveside services will be conducted by the Osgood Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the Versailles Emergency Medical Services or the Donor’s choice.
