Phillip R. Chatwood, Sr. (November 15, 2017)

Phillip R. Chatwood, Sr. of Greenville, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born January 31, 1948 in Springfield, Ohio, son of Albert and Mary (Scholles) Chatwood.

After graduating from Springfield South High School in 1967, he received his Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Wright State University. He was employed by National Trails School District until his retirement in 2010 where he served as a science teacher and school counselor. He was a National Board Certified Counselor and served as a board member and past board president of the Recovery and Wellness Centers of Midwest Ohio. He was a Charter Alumnae of WSU, and a member of OEA/NEA Retired, the Ohio Academy of Science and the American Chemical Society.

Phillip is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sharon (Haas) Chatwood ; children, Lisa (James) Garrity of Loveland, Ohio, Phillip (Stephanie) Chatwood, Jr. of Springfield, Ohio, Jonathan (Kaitlyn) Chatwood of Auburn, Washington and Adam Chatwood of Greenville; grandchildren, Nolan and Clara Garrity and Elizabeth and Grant Chatwood; brother, Albert John (Barbara) Chatwood of Enon, Ohio; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Chatwood of Springfield, Ohio and Christina Erickson of West Jefferson, Ohio; goddaughter, Lynnette Myers; in-laws, Susan (William) Mills, Glen (Karen) Haas, James (Dorothy) Haas, and Catherine (Michael) Kauffman; and several nieces and nephews.

Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Stephen Chatwood, and his brother-in-law James Erickson.

On Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Oliver Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville, a visitation will be held for family and friends beginning at 11:00 AM followed by a Celebration of Life memorial service at 1:00 PM with Rev. Donald Myers officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Greenville Cemetery.
