Gary Lee Fort Sr. 75 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Saturday June 5, 2021 at 9:38 PM at Everheart Hospice Care Center, Greenville, Ohio. He was born February 9, 1946 in Greenville, Ohio the son of the late Lloyd George Fort who passed away on April 7, 1992 and Betty Lou (Hecker) Fort who passed away on June 261982. Gary grew up as a child in New Madison and the family moved to Greenville when he was a teenager.
Gary worked at the Union City Body Company and then at Copelands. He enjoyed coin collecting and camping. He spent his summers in Greenville and his winters in Texas.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents: Orville and Clesta Hecker, and Samuel and Sarah Fort; his aunt and uncles: Walter and Patsy Swartz and Orville Hecker Jr.
Gary is survived by his wife: Shirley (Baker) Fort of Greenville whom he married May 7, 1965; his sons and daughter in law: Gary L. and Kelly Fort Jr. of Greenville, Lloyd Fort of Port Orange, Florida; his granddaughter: Kourtni “Snicklefritz” Fort; and his aunt: Geraldine Hecker.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.
