Mr. James T. Andrews, 82, of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at 5:30 PM at his residence. He was born on September 13, 1926 in Siler City, North Carolina to the late Tom & Ava (Maness) Andrews.
James retired in 1988 from General Athletics. He was a member of the United States Army serving in WWII. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Loyal Order of Moose, VFW and American Legion. James loved to go fishing, camping and collecting coins. James also volunteered for the Youth for Christ when he was younger.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother Weldon Andrews and sister Irene Fagg.
He is survived by; wife, Elizabeth (Miller) Andrews of Greenville, Ohio whom he married on November 10, 1951; daughter and son in law, Cathy & Paul Detrick of Greenville; grandson, Chase P. Detrick; sisters, Myrtle Switzer of Maryland and Dorothy Hall of North Carolina; sister in law, Shirley Carnahan of Greenville; brother in law, John Miller of Beavercreek, Ohio as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a service held on Monday, June 15, 2009 at 10:30 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with the Rev. John Nunnally officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens, Greenville, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Sunday, June 14, 2009 from 2-4 PM at the funeral home.
There will be a full military service conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard. A Lodge of Sorrow will be conducted by the Fraternal Order of Eagles on Sunday at 3:45 PM at the funeral home.
