Wayne L. Roll age 85 of Greenville & formerly of Versailles, died at 9:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville. Wayne was born August 25, 1923 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Lorenzo O. & Cora E. (Lehman) Roll.
Wayne owned & operated Roll Turkey Farm in Versailles until his retirement. He was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church in Bloomer. Wayne served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
In addition to his parents, Wayne is also preceded in death by his wife, Lois E. (Rhoades) Roll on October 31, 2007; and a son, James Roll.
Wayne is survived by a son & daughter-in-law, Larry & Joan Roll of Versailles, daughters, Janet Heft of Versailles and Linda Ford of Springboro.; 13 grandchildren,; 23 great grandchildren; and a sister & brother-in-law, Wanda & Arthur Keighley of Dayton.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 204 East Wood Street Versailles, with Rev. Todd Reish officiating. Burial will follow in Brock Cemetery in Brock, Ohio. The family will receive friends on Friday from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles and Saturday from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. at the church. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Versailles Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to State of the Heart Hospice.
