Dad is asleep in the arms of the Lord. Joe Supinger age 86 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Saturday June 27, 2009 at 11:45 AM at the Brethren Retirement Community. He was born April 23, 1923 in Covington, Ohio the son of the late Jonas R. & Ida Mae (McConnel) Supinger. He worked at Hobart in troy for 37 ½ years retiring in 1984, He also worked for 6 years at Wal Mart.
He entered the Army in June of 1940 serving in World War II in the 1st Armored Division 7th Calvary then he transferred to the 4th Armored Division. He received 2 Purple Hearts and 1 Bronze Star for Bravery. He ended his military career in October of 1945.
He is a member of the Greenville Missionary Church, and the Disabled American Veterans.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Brothers: Gene, Gerald, Carl, & Roscoe Supinger; Sister: Miriam Huffman.
He is survived by his wife Treva (Shumaker) Supinger of Greenville whom he would have been married to for 67 years on July 14; Children and spouses: Sonja & Dan Coppess of Greenville, Larry & Jeanette Supinger of Greenville, Onda & Jack Gibboney of Michigan; Grandchildren: Jackie Francis, Monty & Jennifer Coppess, Michelle Coppess, Don Shuff & Dawn Elliot, Lon Arnett, Tammy & Ted Royster, Tassy and David Miller, L. Joe & Ruth Supinger, Amanda and Dan Miller; Great Grandchildren: Shayton and Ian Supinger, Ryan Minniear, Ashlynn, Julia, & Grace Coppess, Zachary Coppess, Caleb & Conner Elliot, Dallas Arnett, Brook Filby, Ashley & Cassandra Stock, & Charlie Miller; Joe’s special little dog Cinnamon; Brother & sister in law: Robert & Mabel Supinger of Troy, Sisters & Brother in law: Joy & Richard Pritchard of Covington, Linda Lucas of Troy; Numerous nieces & nephews.
Services will be held on Thursday July 2, 2009 at 10:30 AM at Greenville Missionary Church 1110 North Broadway, Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Gary Oser officiating. Burial will follow in Castine Cemetery, Castine, Ohio. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday July 1, 2009 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio. Veterans Graveside services will be conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard.
