JONES, Alan B., age 81, of Greenville passed away Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, after a 2 year battle with Leukemia. The son of the late Albert J. and Hilda (Allen) Jones, he was born on February 23, 1930 in Cardiff, South Wales, Great Britain. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Christopher A. Jones in 1979, and a sister and brother-in-law, Muriel and Albert R. Flory. After serving in the British Army, Alan followed his parents and sister to the United States in 1951 and became a U.S. citizen and then served in the US Army. He retired from Fram Corporation in 1983 after 33 years and is a member of the First United Methodist Church, Greenville and the Darke County Democratic Party. He is survived by his wife of nearly 54 years, Judith A. (Howard), a daughter and son-in-law, Shelley K. and George Bleil of Dayton, a son, Robert H. Jones also of Dayton, 2 grandchildren, Christopher R. and Caroline R. Lord at home in Dayton. Also surviving are a nephew, Roger Flory of Greenville, a niece and husband, Sandra and Tom McGriff of Greenville and 3 great nephews. Cousins in Great Britain also survive. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at The Tobias Funeral Home, 5471 Far Hills Ave., Dayton and from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, 1499 N. Broadway, Greenville. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2011at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, with Rev. Joe Payne officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Greenville.
