Calva Jean Marshall, 69, of New Madison passed away on Monday, March 14, 2011 at the Brethren Retirement Community. Jean was born in Stouts Mill, West Virginia on July 28, 1941 to the late Arden ”Boss” and Daisy (Pritt) Snyder.Jean worked and was Vice President at Farmer’s State Bank for 18 1/2 years, and later worked at Greenville National Bank. After her years in banking, she went to work for the Greenville Daily Advocate in the advertising department, and Kroger’s as a cashier. Jean loved caring for her family. She loved to do crafts and do activities with her kids and grandkids. She loved many kinds of flowers, and especially loved strawberries. Jean was a member of the New Madison Firebelles and the New Madison United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and was in the Lady Aid group.In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her brother, Mike Snyder.Jean is survived by her husband, William ”Bill” Marshall of New Madison; two sons, David and Patty Marshall of Verona, Ohio and Fred and Shannan Marshall of Burnsville, West Virginia; three grandchildren, Michael Marshall of West Virginia, and Taylor and Dalton Marshall of Verona, Ohio; a brother and sister-in-law, Randall and Mary Snyder of Newton Falls, Ohio; and a sister-in-law, Charlene Snyder of Stouts Mill, West Virginia.The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 17, 2011 from 3-6 PM at the New Madison United Methodist Church in New Madison. A Celebration of Life service will be on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 6:30 PM also at the church with the Rev. Steve Hayes being asked to officiate. Burial be held at the convenience of the family. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to State of the Heart Hospice or to the charity of their choice.
