Dale Allen Meier, 76, of Greenville, passed away on October 13, 2017 at State of the Heart Hospice Care Unit in Greenville.Dale was born on December 2, 1940 in Greenville, to the late Harry and Ruth (Blizzard) Meier.
In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Karen (Mills) Meier whom he married October 29, 1977; and his brother, Verlin Meier.
Dale was a farmer for 53 years. He never missed a day at the Great Darke County Fair and would make several rounds every day around the fair to see who he would run in to and talk with. Dale loved to go to estate and farm auctions or “sales” as he would call them. He would bid of the items no one else would wanted and come home with truckloads of “stuff I may use someday”. He was active in 4-H helping Karen with whatever he could for the Silver Hoofs 4-H Club and continued his support after she passed away in 2014. Dale would spend his time “piddlin” around the farm. He was a strong man, faithful husband, loving Dad and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. He has left many memories and a legacy of hard work and family. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Dale is survived by his children and their spouses, Beth and Ramey Israel of Greenville, Mary and Patrick Neill of Union City, Ohio, and Scot Meier of Greenville; three grandchildren, Tyrel and Ethan Israel and Hunter Meier; a niece, Amy (John) Schnoreberger of Toledo, Ohio; a nephew, Craig (Beth) Meier of Finley, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Sue Meier of Celina, Ohio; and countless cousins.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30AM, Wednesday, October 17, 2017 at Oliver Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in Greenville Union Cemetery.
Family and friends may visit on Tuesday from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at the funeral Home.
