He was a 1953 graduate of Greenville High School and following graduation started his career with Van Leer of Greenville, retiring in 1986. Dick loved to fish and work with wood and during his younger years enjoyed riding horses. He also attended the Teegarden Congregational Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Robert E. Wion in 2005.
Dick is survived by his wife Sanda (Voke) Wion of Greenville. They were married July 29, 1955. Also children Steve Wion of Bradford, Terry (Lenny) McCann of Greenville, Dottie (Todd) Denniston of Ansonia, Sheryl (Rick) Hollopeter of Bradford and Bonnie (Nick) McEowen of Union City, Indiana; grandchildren Jason Wion, Stevie (Karley) Wion, Eric (Johanna) McCann, Sarah (Scott) Myers, Kevin (Jessica) McCann, Samantha McCann, Angie (Mark) Thomas, Aimee (Josh) Fletcher, Nathan Denniston, Sacha (Zach) Pollitt, Jesse Lawson, Rochelle Lawson, Paul Lawson, Nickolas McEowen and Brooke McEowen; 24 great grandchildren; sisters in law Iva Wion and Naomi Voke both of Greenville as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday October 23, 2017 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Eric Knight officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM in the funeral home.
It is the wishes of the family that Memorial Contributions be given to the State of the Heart Care of Darke County or the Teegarden Congregational Church.
