She was born July 6, 1924, the second of five children in Versailles, Ohio to the late Elmer & Emma (Hauschild) Pitsenbarger. In addition to her parents, Evelyn was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Merle Selander on December 20, 2005 whom she married June 24, 1945; and brother, Floyd “Bear” Pitsenbarger.
Evelyn is survived by her sisters & brothers-in-law, Dorthabel & Gene Fox of Englewood, Phyllis & Jerry Oliver of Versailles and Janet & Howard Rehmert of Versailles; and a sister-in-law, Janet (Berger) Pitsenbarger of Versailles.
Ebby cherished her family and loved spending time with the many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. Evelyn graduated from Versailles High School in 1942. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Willowdell. She did clerical work for Poultry Producers and the Versailles Policy before she retired. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and baking her wonderful homemade bread, cookies and special chocolate cake.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Laura Shreffler officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Versailles. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
