Joanne Christine Oswalt (December 23, 2017)

Joanne Christine Oswalt, 86, of Arcanum, passed away on December 23, 2017 at State of the Heart Care Center in Greenville.

She was born April 15, 1931 in Monroe Township, Darke County, Ohio the daughter of the late Landon West and Opal Mae (Henninger) Oda.

In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, George Oswalt; her sisters, Eileen Thompson and Marjorie Groves; and an infant brother, Landon Oda.

Joanne was a member of Pitsburg Church of the Brethren, where she was active in the Women's Fellowship, preparing funeral dinners and luncheons for the church. She sang in the church choir, at many weddings and was a member of the Village Singers Community Choir. Joanne was an avid gardener and loved mowing grass. She baked cakes, candy, pies and cookies and she enjoyed embroidering and would give them as gifts to family and friends. Joanne worked beside her husband and son on the family farm.

Joanne is survived by her children and their spouses, Dianna (Gilbert) Jay, Pamela (Mark) Oswalt, Barbara Sue Oswalt, and Ricky Lee (Brenda) Oswalt all of Arcanum; her grandchildren, Tanya (Blain) Coby, Angela (Nick) Morelli, Bethanie (Dustin) Shepherd, Brittasha (J.J.) Thompson and Kayle Oswalt; her great grandchildren, Jayla Coby, AJ Morelli, Cayden Shepherd, Noah Shepherd and Ella Rose Shepherd; her sisters, Doris Lephart of Greenville and formerly of Arcanum, and Kay Morrissey of Columbus, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and Friends may visit on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 10 AM -12 PM at Pitsburg Church of the Brethren, 8376 Pitsburg Laura Road, Arcanum, Ohio

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12 PM on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Pitsburg Church of the Brethren with Pastor Ken Oren and Pastor Allan Sudmann officiating. Burial will follow in Mote Cemetery.
