In the year of 1959, they moved to Darke County, Ohio after they purchased a dairy farm, and it was there that Sam and Norma raised their young family. By 2013, he became a "snowbird" to Titusville, Florida, where daughter, Connie resided.

As age began to make daily life a little more difficult to navigate, he permanently moved to Florida in Aug. 2017, and became a resident of Titusville. It was his greatest pleasure to go to the Indian River and spot dolphins and manatees.
