Kenneth E. "Gene" Garber, 81, of Arcanum, died Saturday, September 12, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Garber was born in Butler Township, Darke County on October 2, 1927, the son of the late John and Ida (Noggle) Garber. He was a member of Castine Church of the Brethren. Gene was a retired salesperson at Grubbs Supply and Duellman Electric, Greenville. He was a U S Army veteran of WWII. Mr Garber was preceded in death by sister Edith Hans, and brothers Robert and William Garber. Gene is survived by his wife Lena "Connie" (Crawford) Garber, whom he married May 15, 1949; Son Nathan Garber and wife Beverly; granddaughter Dawn Garber, grandson Chad Garber and wife Anne; sisters Mildred Mount of Hamilton; and Ruth Shafer of West Manchester. Memorial Services will be held 1:30 PM Thursday, September 17, 2009 at the Castine Church of the Brethren with Pastor Greg Hyre officiating. There will be no public viewing. Kreitzer Funeral Home, Arcanum is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests memorial contributions to Castine Church of the Brethren.
