Raymond U. "Ray" Depweg, 85, of Greenville and formerly of Rossburg, passed away Friday evening, September 11, 2009 at Wayne Hospital in Greenville.
He was born in Chickasaw, OH, son of the late Francis and Catherine (Bruns) Depweg. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary C. "Eileen" (Kaiser) Depweg; a brother, Charlie and a sister Doris.
Ray and his wife Eileen owned and operated the former Depweg's Grocery in Rossburg. He was a veteran of the US Army having served during WWII. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenville.
Ray had served in many capacities for the village of Rossburg including but not limited to serving as Fire Chief for the Rossburg Fire Department for several years.
He is survived by his children, Gary (Pam Depweg of Osgood and Ellen (Bruce) Hetzler of Greenville; grandchildren, Holly (Dave) Guillozet, Eric Depweg, Ashlee, Alexa and Aireca Hetzler; great grandchildren, Dylan, Anthony and Trevor Guillozet; a brother, Wilford Depweg; and two sisters, Viola Strukamp and Edna Wimmers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, September 14, at 11 a.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenville with Rev. Fr. John White celebrating. Bural will follow in the St. Mary's Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville, Sunday September 13, from 2-6 p.m with Prayers being offered at 1:45 p.m.
