Christine “Chris” Detling (April 16, 2021)

Christine “Chris” Detling, age 63, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 3:20 AM Friday, April 16, 2021 at the EverHeart Hospice Care Center of Greenville.  Chris was born January 28, 1958 in Greenville, Ohio, to the late David L. and Alice E. (Lynch) Anderson.

Chris had been employed for 21 years at St. Mary’s Catholic School as the office manager, secretary, and all around the “Go to Person” who always made things happen.  This was a position she held over the years that developed into much more than just a job.  Chris was a true blessing to the school and the many who knew her.  Prior to working at St. Mary’s School, she was the office manager for JR Kuntz Company in Dayton, Ohio.  Chris was also a very active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  She was a very devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished time spent with family and friends.  Chris had such a kind heart and will truly be missed by many.  

She is survived by her husband of 35 years Rex Detling of Greenville who she married on January 25, 1986; children, Ryan Detling of Greenville, Chelsea Detling of Greenville, and Robby (Fiancée Alexis McClain) Detling of Sylvania, Ohio; granddaughter, Kinsley Detling; brothers and sister, Matt Anderson of Greenville, Tony Anderson of Greenville, Jeff (Lisa) Anderson of San Diego, CA and Kathy (Rick) Pierri of Greenville; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 233 West Third Street, Greenville, Ohio, with Fr. Matt Feist as officiant.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Church Cemetery.  The family will receive family and friends on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 from 5-8 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.  There will be a prayer service at 4:30 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers it is the wishes of the family that memorial contributions be given to the School Scholarship Fund at St. Mary’s Catholic School.
