She was born on June 23, 1928, in Rossburg, Ohio, to the late John D. and Mabel (Budd) Subler.
In addition to her parents, Marty was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Collins, whom she married on June 24, 1950; and her sister and brother-in-law, Olive and Charold Brown.
She is survived by her nephews, Douglas and Steve Brown; and all her friends and special children she babysat over her many years. She took great pride in watching them all grow to be amazing adults.
As a young girl, Marty learned the value of hard work by working alongside her father on their farm. She loved being outside and driving a tractor. At 22 years of age, she married Bob and enjoyed 57 years together before his passing in June, 2007. She worked and retired from FRAM, in Greenville, after many years of service. She and Bob liked to travel, shop, eat out, and meet friends at McDonalds. They loved spending time with each other, and loved the Darke County Fair. She loved sport of all kinds; golf, football, baseball, and basketball. She particularly enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds and Versailles Tigers. She loved decorating for the holidays, especially Christmas and would keep her Christmas decorations up all year round in her room at the Brethren's Home.
Marty had a tremendous heart and love for children. She had no children of her own, so she took immense pleasure from babysitting and loved all these children as her own. She eventually starting watching children from her home and made sure to have an abundance of toys to occupy their time. She always provided hot home-cooked meals, but also the occasional trip to McDonalds.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 1, 2021, at Teegarden Cemetery outside Ansonia, Ohio, with Pastor Tony Price officiating.
