David J. McClain age 69, of Versailles passed away at 5:45 PM on Sunday, March 28, 2021, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
David was born May 24, 1951, in Greenville to the late Herbert “Mac” & Mary Ann (Ogelsby) McClain. In addition to his parents, David was also preceded in death by his brother, Michael McClain; and aunt, Berneda Trent.
David is survived by his step mother, Juanita (Painter) McClain of Greenville; daughters & sons-in-law, Michelle & Christopher Beck of New Madison and Angie & Brett Bender of Versailles; step daughter, Christina & Carmen Campbell of Sidney; grandchildren, Ashley Gamble, Brianna Beck, Kayla Young, Kelsy Young, Joseph Beck and Natalie Beck; great-granddaughter, Emma Head; brother, Ray McClain of California; and best friend & business partner, Margie Mayhew of Versailles.
David served in the U.S. Navy Seabees during the Vietnam War. He owned McClain’s Construction in Greenville.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Greg Hyre officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Ft. Jefferson with full military honors conducted by the Greenville Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
