Margaret Ann (Stover) Reck (August 29, 2012)

Margaret Ann (Stover) Reck age 84 of Versailles, Ohio passed away at 9:18 A.M. on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy. Margaret was born March 15, 1928 in Versailles to the late Charles Walter & Ada (Huber) Stover.

Margaret is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, Gregory S. & Nena Reck of Dayton and Kevin S. & Mary Ann Reck of McMurray, Pennsylvania; daughter & son-in-law, Margaret A. “Peg” & Robert Peyton of Johnstown, Ohio; grandchildren, Chad Peyton of Versailles, Rachel Peyton of Bexley, Elyse (Peyton) & Dustin Priest of Johnstown, Gregory C. & Casey Reck of Moraine, Sarah (Reck) & Chris Waldron of Miamisburg, Megan (Reck) & Seth Portmann of Noblesville, Indiana, Cathy Weber of Cleveland and Christopher Weber of McMurray, Pennsylvania; great-grandchildren, Eric & Abigail Peyton, Justin & Peyton Ungericht, Madison, Landon, & Annebelle Waldron, Zachary Randall and Jackson Reck; and numerous nieces & nephews.

In addition to her parents, Margaret is also preceded in death by her husband, Cletus E. Reck on July 10, 2003 whom she married November 15, 1947; granddaughter, Bethany Peyton; sister, Helen Coffield of Versailles; and a brother, Dr. Walter Stover of Marfa, Texas.

Margaret was a retired 5th grade teacher at Versailles Schools with over 26 years of service. She was a member of the Versailles Christian Church. Margaret was a former member of the Versailles Eastern Star. Margaret started a monthly bridge club meeting at the Versailles Inn, her two passions in life was playing bridge and fly fishing.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor John Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Versailles. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Ingrid Bryant Coby, age 60 of Arcanum, Ohio passed away on Monday August 27, 2012 at 9:30 PM at her residence. She was born September 19, 1951 in Franklin Simpson County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Roy Elzie & Cenia Ethel (Garland) Bryant. She was a caregiver, CNA and Home Health Aide and a CASA representative. She is preceded in death by her parents; Bother: Stanley Timothy Bryant; Sister: Esther Bryant McGraw.

Rhoda Elaine Baker (August 23, 2012)

Rhoda Elaine Baker, 60, of Union City, Indiana, passed away unexpectadly on August 23, 2012 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana. Rhoda was born on April 17, 1952 in Richmond, Indiana to Gilbert Bemis and the late Alberta (Arey) Bemis.

Rhoda enjoyed being as a homemaker through out her life. She loved crafts and enjoyed going to church where she sang in the choir. Rhoda was a loving grandmother, mom and wife that sacrificed herself for others.

In addition to her mother, Rhoda is preceded in death by her step mom, Mary Bemis.

In addition to her father, Rhoda is survived by her husband, Steven Baker, Sr.; two sons, Steven Baker, Jr. of Florida and Timothy and Andrea Baker of Portland, OR; a daughter, Kimberly and Darrin Keagy of Union, City; eight grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; four brothers, Steve Bemis of Troy, Ohio, Billy Finnell of Michigan, Carl Brant of Richmond, Indiana and Dean Brant of Hamilton, Ohio; and one sister, Brenda Finnell of Hamilton, Ohio.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 11:00 AM in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens, Greenville, Ohio. The family request memorial contributions be given to Braund Funeral Home to help with funeral arrangements.

Glenna E. Burkett (August 26, 2012)

Glenna E. Burkett age 96, of Bradford, Ohio, passed away at 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at her residence. Glenna was born December 24, 1915 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Lawrence E. & Hazel (Routzong) Miller.

Glenna is survived by a brother & sister-in-law, Robert C. & Alma Miller of Versailles; sisters & brother-in-law, Iris Jean Wills of Versailles and Norma & Bill Brumbaugh of West Milton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Glenna is also preceded in death by her husband, Cecil N. Burkett on December 29, 2008 whom she married March 6, 1936; brother, Ivan “Jack” Miller; and sisters, Ruby Miller, Louise Miller, Maxine Snyder, Frances Herrmann and Thelma Henry.

Glenna retired from Corning Glass of Greenville in 1980 where she worked in quality control. She was also a homemaker. Glenna was a former member of the Gettysburg Presbyterian Church.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Rick Gutheil officiating. Jo Ann Bermingham (August 19, 2012)

Jo Ann Bermingham, 39, of Greenville, passed away at her residence on August 19, 2012. Jo Ann was born on October 1, 1972 in Greenville, Ohio to Edward Michael Barnes and Wanda (Taylor) Buckley.

Jo Ann loved to go to garage sales. She also loved spending time with kids.

Jo Ann is preceded in death by her son, Harley Bermingham; 2 sisters, Jo Ann White and Mary Sue Moore

Jo Ann is survived by her parents; a daughter Cheyenne Bermingham of Greenville; 2 sons, Clay Hatfield and Zachary Bermingham both of Kentucky; 1 grandchild; a brother Joe Buckley of Kentucky; and a sister Sharon Stephens of Greenville.

Kay Storch (August 25, 2012)

Kay Storch, 98 of Brunswick, Georgia passed away Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home . A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church of Brunswick at 10 AM with Rev. McIlrath officiating. Interment will be held Thursday, August 30 at 10:30 a.m. in Greenwood Cemetery in Hamilton, Ohio. Serving as Honorary pallbearers are the Together Sunday School Class of the First United Methodist Church of Brunswick, Georgia. .

Kay was born August 6, 1914 in Hamilton, Ohio to the late Frank Hixon and Anna Smith Hixon. She was a graduate of Hamilton High School in Hamilton, Ohio. Kay and her late husband Mr. Edmond Storch, Sr. owned and operated Storch Funeral Home in New Madison, Ohio for over 30 years. She later worked in the catalog department for Sears in Florida from where she retired. Kay was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Brunswick where she attended the Together Sunday School Class. She was also a member of Eastern Star in New Madison, Ohio. Kay was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Kay is preceded in death by her husband: Edmond Carl Storch, Sr. and two brothers.

She is survived by a son: Ed Storch, Jr. and wife Janet of Brunswick, GA; two grandchildren: Kimberly Joiner and husband Robert of Saint Simons Island, GA and Scott Storch and wife Laura of Kennesaw, GA; four great grandchildren: Wesley Joiner of Winston-Salem, NC; Clay Joiner of Saint Simons Island, GA; Julie Storch and Bailey Storch both of Kennesaw, GA.

Jarvey Lee Garber, 67, of Eaton, Ohio, passed away on August 24, 2012 at Heartland of Eaton. He was born on February 16, 1945 in Brookeville, Ohio to the late Forrest Johnson and Madelyn Garber.

Jarvey worked as a carpenter and farmer through his life.

In addition to his parents, Jarvey is preceded in death by his wife Kaye Garber on May 13, 2011.

Jarvey is survived by a daughter, Karrie Garber of Moorhead, Minnesota; a half brother, Michael and wife Barbie Kenny of Eaton Ohio; and special friends, Mike and Susie Sanders of Richmond, Indiana.

Elizabeth Jane Schafer (August 24, 2012)

Elizabeth Jane Schafer, 84, of Greenville, passed away Friday afternoon, August 24, 2012 at her residence.

She was born February 21, 1928 in Union City, IN, daughter of the late Virgil and Oressa (Royce) Sell. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Don W. Schafer, and a brother, Robert Sell.

Jane was a retired secretary from Frazier Auto Supply and business partner in Greenville Television.

She is survived by her children, Joyce (Scott) Richards of Greenville, Janet (Scott Childers) Jaggers of Reynoldsburg, Jewell (Mark) Michaels of Kettering, and Don Schafer, II, of Greenville; grandchildren, Jessica (Danny) Lugo, Margaret Richards, Joel (Maegen) Hisle, Warren Richards, and Christopher (Beverly) Michaels; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Korleen Mangas of Union City, IN, and Dixie Byrum of Winchester, IN.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 29, at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor John Wiltshire officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery near Greenville.

Ricky Suzuki (July 20, 2012)

Ricky Suzuki, of Kapolei, Hawaii, passed away unexpectedly in New Madison, Ohio on July 20, 2012. Born on August 14, 1960. His parents are Roger Suzuki and Rosalina Calio.

Ricky lived in New Madison, Ohio and worked as a carpenter. In addition to his parents, Ricky is survived by a sons, Dauyane and Dale; daughters Desiree and Daeja; a brother Eric and a sister, Roseanne Schucht.

Memorial services were held at the Valley of the Temple in Hawaii.

Christopher Michael Portemont (August 10, 2012)

Christopher Michael Portemont, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 10, 2012. Born on May 23, 1975, his parents are Gaile Lynn Lindley and Billy Portemont II.

Christopher lived in Phillipsburg, Ohio and worked as a bricklayer. In addition to his parents, Christopher is survived by a two sons, Seth Robert, and Keegan Michael and a daughter Marissa Lynn.

Orville Hoos (August 20, 2012)

Orville Hoos, 78, of Richmond and formerly of New Madison, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 20, 2012 at his residence. He was born on March 22, 1934 to the late Peter and Ina Alexander (Harrison) Hoos.

Orville was a former Mayor of New Madison, and a member of the New Madison Kiwanis where he served as the Lieutenant Governor of Kiwanis for the State of Ohio. He was a member of New Paris Church of Christ, where he served as a Deacon. Orville was also a great fan of baseball and the Cincinnati Reds.

In addition to his parents, Orville is preceded in death by his wife, Woodice (Eliason) Hoos, who passed away in 1997 and eleven brothers and sisters.

Orville is survived by two sons, Bob Hoos of Centerville, Indiana and George Hoos of New Hampshire; a daughter, Carol Dill of Ormond Beach, Florida; four grandchildren, William Tripp, Daniel Tripp, Zachariah Hoos and Candice Hoos; three great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Morgan and Grace; one brother, Howard Alexander, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, August 24, 2012 from 4-7 PM at Braund Funeral Home in New Madison. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 10 AM also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Greenmound Cemetery. The family request memorial contributions be given to American Heart Association in honor of Orville. Donations will be accepted at the funeral home.

John R. Swisher (August 21, 2012)

John R. Swisher, age 54 of Ansonia, Ohio passed away at 11:14 A.M. Tuesday August 21, 2012 in the emergency room of Wayne HealthCare Center Greenville, Ohio. John was born November 13, 1957 in Greenville, Ohio and the son of Lucille (Eager) Swisher of Ansonia and the late Clifford C. Swisher who passed away July 9, 1982.

John was retired and a member of the Union City, Indiana Eagles Lodge, the Sons of the V.F.W. of Union City, Ohio and enjoyed working with chickens, ducks and rabbits.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister Catherine Carleen Swisher October 10, 1956.

John is survived by his mother; son Josh M. Swisher of Greenville; daughter Julie M. Swisher of Greenville and her friend Charlie Miller of Greenville; granddaughter Cheyenne Swisher of Greenville; brother Ed Swisher of Greenville; sister Becky Swisher of Ansonia; niece Lauren Swisher of Ansonia and her fiancĂ© Matthew Freshour and John’s former spouse and mother of his children Joyce (Rismiller) Swisher of Ansonia.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday August 24, 2012 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Peter Menke officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12 Noon until time of the services in the funeral home.

Donald L. Irwin (August 19, 2012)

Donald L. Irwin, 80, of Greenville, OH, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2012, 3 years to the day of his beloved wife, at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville.

He was born September 26, 1931 in Castine, Ohio, son of the late Cleston and Clara (Bradney) Irwin. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Ethel A. (Hollinger) Irwin in which he had married on October 13, 1951; a grandson, Benjamin Hollinger; sister Ettaleene Hunt; and two brothers, James and Robert Irwin.

Donald served in the Navy for 2 years and the Naval Reserve for 2 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 140 in Greenville. He was employed at Dinner Bell in Troy, Ohio for 37 years and then employed by the Darke County Garage for 12 years.

He is survived by his daughters, Linda Cook of Georgia and Debbie and son-in-law Jimmy Bain of Greenville; a step- son and daughter-in-law, Richard (Joby) and Rocksand Hollinger of Greenville; grandchildren, Dusty & Allison Laux and Joey & Amy Laux of Georgia, Jessica & Aaron Kimmel of Greenville, Pennie & Troy Gasper of Rossburg; great grandchildren, Whitney & Wyatt Gasper of Rossburg, Jonah, Sam, Allison, Kenzie and Cammie Laux of Georgia, and Tori, Landen and Logan Kimmel of Greenville; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Leon (Bud) Oler of West Manchester; numerous nieces and nephews and one cousin Dorothy Snyder of Arcanum; and a sister-in-law Jane Riegle of Greenville.

Service with full military honors by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 23 at the Oliver- Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Bill Edwards. Burial will follow in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 12-2 p.m.. The family request the memorial contributions given to either the Gospel Baptist Church in Greenville or State of the Heart Hospice.

Dean H. Edwards (August 18, 2012)

Dean H. Edwards, age 71, of Arcanum, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at 8:59 PM at his residence. He was born on March 13, 1941 in Thistle, Utah, to the late Frank & Hortense (Hayes) Edwards. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother Frank Edwards.

Dean is survived by his wife, Lena (Vanderpool) Edwards, of Arcanum, Ohio, whom he married on December 20, 1968; daughter and son in law, Pollyanna & John Candalot of Cottonwood, Idaho; son and daughter in law, Louis R. & Diane E. Edwards of Jackson, Michigan; grandchildren, McKenzie Candalot, Steven Derepentigny & Mitchell Derepentigny; siblings, John & Dixie Edwards of Salt Lake City, Utah, Bessie & Mike Hubler of Gore, Oklahoma, and Bradley Edwards of Topeka, Kansas; as well as 2 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dean was a Design Engineer for Hobart Corporation in Troy, Ohio. He was a member of the United States Army serving in the Vietnam War. Dean was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He loved wood working and building toy trains and toy cars which he gave away to children.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, August 23, 2012, from 10-11 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville, Ohio. The service will follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Phil Garbig officiating. Burial will be in the David Cemetery in Kettering, Ohio, at 1:15 PM on Thursday after the service.

Marta Ann Wheeler (August 15, 2012)

Marta Ann Wheeler, age 61, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at 11:45 PM at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville, Ohio. She was born on February 8, 1951 in Greenville, Ohio, to Lawrence “Larry” & Mary Lou (Rolfe) Wheeler of Greenville, Ohio.

In addition to his parents she is survived by her sister, Kimberly A. Murray of Greenville, Ohio; brother and sister in law, Douglas A. & Erica Wheeler of Waynesville, Missouri; nephew, Greg Wheeler; nieces, Nicki (Travis) Cope, Callie Wheeler, and Carlie Wheeler.

Marta worked at Gershuh’s Restaurant in Greenville for 22 years. She was a member of the First Congregational Christian Church and loved knitting, needle point, reading and crossword puzzles.

There will be a visitation held on Monday, August 20, 2012 from 9-11 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio. Graveside service will be held immediately following the visitation at the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Joe Soley and Pastor Ted McGurdy co-officiating.

Jerome H. Hoying (August 15, 2012)

Jerome H. Hoying, age 89, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at 6:50 AM at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville, Ohio. He was born on October 31, 1922 in St. Patricks, Ohio to the late Henry H. & Anna (Schmitmeyer) Hoying.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Hoying on February 10, 2001, whom he married on June 27, 1944. He is also preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Louise Boerger, Dettie Gaier, Anna Marie Eilerman and Regina Aselage; brothers, Edwin Hoying and Henry Hoying.

Jerome is survived by his children, John & Sherry Hoying of Union, Ohio, Bob & Joan Hoying of Wildwood, Missouri, Jim Hoying of Tampa, Florida, Fred & Sharon Hoying of Greenville, Ohio, Sandy & Charlie McFarland of Greenville, Ohio, Sharon & Bill Westfall of Greenville, Ohio, Randy & Anita Hoying of Cincinnati, Ohio; 11 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren; 4 brothers; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He retired from Corning Glass Works after 30 years of service, was a member of the Knight of Columbus, Elks, American Legion, VFW, and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 233 West 3rd Street, Greenville, Ohio, with Rev. Fr. John White celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Greenville, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Monday, August 20, 2012 from 5-8 PM and Tuesday from 9:30-10:00 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.

Lisa Ann Metzcar (August 13, 2012)

Lisa Ann Metzcar, age 43 of New Madison, Ohio passed away at 4:00 P.M. Monday August 13, 2012 at her residence. Lisa was born August 1, 1969 in Greenville, Ohio and the daughter of Mr. Wilbur Bevins of New Madison and the late Leota P. (Petry) Bevins who passed away January 18, 2012.

Lisa was a devoted mother and wife as well as a devoted servant to her family and church. She was a member of the Castine Church of the Brethren and graduate of Tri-Village High School Class of 1987.

She was also preceded in death by a sister Myra Kay Bevins August 14, 1953.

In addition to her father, Lisa is survived by her husband William Jacob “Bill” Metzcar of New Madison. They were married September 7, 1991. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday August 18, 2012 in the Castine Church of the Brethren 624 US Route 127-South Castine, Ohio with Pastor Greg Hyre officiating. Burial will follow in the Hollansburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 P.M. until 7 P.M. in the Castine Church of the Brethren.

Eugene W. Lindamood age 89, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 9:12 P.M. on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at the Oakley House in Greenville. Eugene was born October 22, 1922 in New Madison, Ohio to the late Guy & Nora Bell (Harter) Lindamood.

Eugene is survived by his daughters & sons-in-law, Janet & John Wallis of Ludington, Michigan and Karen & Vern Rife of Hartland, Michigan; grandchildren, Kevin & Lori Eikenberry of Indianapolis, Indiana, Paula & Grady Mendenhall of Texas, Amy & Alan Weissenbacher of California and Emily & John Cooper of Lansing, Michigan; great grandchildren, Parker & Kelsey Eikenberry, Allison & Aaron Mendenhall and William Cooper; special niece, April Miller & David Shumaker of Greenville and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to his parents, Eugene is also preceded in death by his 1st wife, Reba (Alley) Lindamood in 1964; 2nd wife, Jane (Davidson) Lindamood Drew on January 29, 2009; brother, Marion Lindamood and sister, Wanda Wells.

Eugene served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was an auto and farm machinery mechanic.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Ft. Jefferson, Ohio. Doris V. (Townsend) Paulus (August 10, 2012)

Doris V. (Townsend) Paulus, 95, of New Madison, passed away peacefully at her home on August 10, 2012. Doris was born on February 15, 1917 in Darke County to the late Russel and Weltha (Henninger) Townsend.

Doris worked as a farmer’s wife during her life. She enjoyed gardening, her flowers and mowing her grass, she was known as the lawn mowing queen of New Madison. Doris was a big Cincinnati Reds fan and a collector of dolls. Her greatest joys were spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Doris is preceded in death by her husband Samual Paulus who passed away in 1990; brothers Galen, Warren and Lowell Townsend; sisters, Dorothy Murphy, Betty Paulus and Shirley Laux and son-in-laws, Marion Petry and James Lockard.

Doris is survived by four daughters, Mary K. Petry of New Paris, Peggy Lockard of Medway, Beverly and Bob Shaffer of West Manchester and Connie and Jim White of Elderado; 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren and a sister, Jeanie Strawser of Greenville.

Friends and family may visit from 5-8 P.M. on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Braund Funeral Home in New Madison. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 11 AM also at the funeral home with the Rev. Eric Fee being asked to officiate. Family request memorial contributions be given to State of the Heart Hospice, donation will be accepted at the funeral home.

John Edward Karnehm (August 10, 2012)

John Edward Karnehm age 55, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 4:00 P.M. on Friday, August 10, 2012 at his residence. John was born July 29, 1957 in Greenville, Ohio to the late Tom & Donna (O’Brien) Karnehm.

John is survived by a brother, Tom Karnehm of Van Wert, Ohio; sisters, Connie Singer of Greenville, Ohio and Carolyn Worthen of Michigan; nephews, Lee Karnehm of South Carolina, Matt Karnehm of Greenville, Ohio, Steven Karnehm of Greenville, Ohio, Taylor Karnehm of Van Wert, Ohio and Zachary Karnehm of Van Wert, Ohio; and a niece, Donielle Karnehm of Piqua, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, John is also preceded in death by a brother, Richard Karnehm.

John was a truck driver for Rumpke in Greenville for 10 years.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Chaplain John Nunnally officiating. Burial will follow in Abbottsville Cemetery in Darke County, Ohio. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
