David C. Baerwald (January 22, 2021)

David C. Baerwald, 56 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Friday January 22, 2021 at 11:22 AM at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio.  He was born July 11, 1964 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, the son of Lorraine (Neitzel) Baerwald of Horicon, Wisconsin and the late Chuck Baerwald.  He worked as a Service Maintenance Technician at GTI in Greenville.  He served his country in the United States Army.

David was first and foremost devoted to his family and friends whether they were distant or close in relationship to him.  He was generous with his time and money which included a sassy sense of humor.  He sought to be supportive, and continuously looking for ways to help those around him.  He was a proud Green Bay Packer fan who spent years collecting memorabilia who had a signature voice message when you didn’t answer your phone.

He is preceded in death by his father; and his wife:  Tracy L. (Royer) Baerwald on April 15, 2017 whom he married July 7, 2001.

He is survived by his mother; his children & spouses:  Justin Baerwald of Greenville, Tara & Michael Ginger of Greenville, Jesse Baerwald & Mary Gibson of Greenville, Amber & Adam Duncan of Greenville, & Olivia Baerwald of Greenville; his grandchildren:  Paige Hart, Levi Kolb, Audrey Duncan, Aiden Duncan, & Evie Baerwald; his brother & sister in law:  Ken & Betty Baerwald of Elkhorn, Wisconsin; his sisters:  Sharon Weber of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, Sandra Baerwald of Portland, Oregon; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew and friends.  

Services will be held on Thursday January 28, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Todd Reish officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenville Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday January 27, at the funeral home.  Veterans services will be conducted on Thursday at the funeral home by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard.  Memorial contributions may be made to The Cancer Association of Darke County.

Carolyn Louise Fourman (January 22, 2021)

Carolyn Louise Fourman, 81 of Arcanum, Ohio passed away on Friday January 22, 2021 at 2:33 PM at State of The Heart Care Center, Greenville, Ohio.  She was born December 14, 1939 in Greenville, Ohio the daughter of the late Clarence and Edith (Riffell) Rismiller.  She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pitsburg, Ohio; she enjoyed going to Bible study when she was able to; she loved quilting, reading, knitting, baking, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.  She was known as Honeybee by her father.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother:  Gerald Rismiller;

She is survived by her husband of  57 years Marvin Leroy Fourman of Arcanum whom she married April 6, 1963; her children:  Marilyn & Galen Wetzel of Arcanum, Marlene Dirksen & Jim Brown of Bradford, Marla Fourman of Bradford; her grandchildren:  Stacy Dirksen, Tracy & Jesse Kemper, Macy Dirksen, Mara Wetzel, Tara Goubeaux, Vance Wetzel; her great granddaughter:  Scarlett Kemper; her siblings:  Virgil Rismiller, Judy Nast, Nelson Rismiller, Harold Rismiller, Mark Rismiller, Joyce Swisher, Gloria & Mark Burns, Faye & Rick Harman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Friday January 29, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Mel Musser officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or State of The Heart Care.

David H. Stammen (January 21, 2021)

David H. Stammen, 72, of Rossburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at his home.

He was born on September 12, 1948, in Union City, Indiana, to the late Frank and Hilda (Otte) Stammen.

In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Ann (Bensman) Stammen; his sisters, Bertha “Berdie” Stammen and Mildred Stammen; his sister-in-law, Viola Stammen; his mother and father-in-law, Ellen and Tom Campbell; his former mother and father-in-law, Rose and Lawrence Bensman; and his former brothers-in-law, Jim Bensman and Charles Bensman.

Dave was a 1966 graduate of Mississinawa Valley High School. After graduation, he attended the University of Dayton where he graduated with his Bachelor of Technology in 1970. Dave began his career in 1970 with the Ohio Department of Transportation as a Professional Engineer until his retirement in 2004 with 34 ½ years of service.

Dave was an avid farmer. He enjoyed tending to his crops and maintaining his machinery. When Dave was not on the tractor, he was rooting for his alma mater, the UD Flyers basketball team. He loved his family and enjoyed supporting his children and grandchildren in all that they did.

Dave lived out his faith daily. He fell in love with the Bible and would spend time each day reading God’s word. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenville and a member of the Greenville Knights of Columbus, Council 1796.

Dave is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kathleen (Campbell) Stammen, whom he married on July 12, 1980; his children, Sara Timmerman and her husband, Alan of North Star, and Nicholas Stammen and his wife, Lisa, of St. Henry; his grandchildren, Rose and Joseph Timmerman, and Jack, Elias, and Lena Stammen; his brother, Lester Stammen of St. Henry; and sisters, Verena Evers and her husband, Don, of New Bremen, Joan Pax and her husband, Francis, of Coldwater; his sister-in-law, Mary Campbell-Zopf and Charles Swaney of Springfield; his brother-in-law, Peter Campbell and his wife, Wendy of Colorado; his former brothers-in-laws, Ken Bensman and his wife, Pat, of New Bremen, Larry Bensman and his wife, Mary, of New Bremen, and Nick Bensman and his wife, Diane, of New Bremen; and his former sisters-in-law, Karen Bensman of Minster, Judy McGlothen of St. Mary’s, and Cindy Bensman of McCartyville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenville, with Father David Doseck as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Bobby G. Dynes (January 16, 2021)

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Bobby G. Dynes of Greenville, Ohio, announces his passing at State of the Heart Care on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at the age of 72. Bobby will be deeply missed by his wife Donna M. (Miller) Dynes, whom he married 7-7-77. Donna lovingly cared for him during his courageous journey with a chronic illness.

He was born on August 6, 1948 to the late Robert and Jane (Young) Dynes and grew up in Ansonia, Ohio where he graduated from Ansonia High School in 1967. 

Bobby was known for his strong presence, passion for life, booming voice, and ornery grin. He was a hardworking tool and die machinist by trade for over 40 years and a former member of the Greenville Fraternal Order of Eagles and Loyal Order of Moose. Bobby was an avid NASCAR and Jeff Gordon fan and also enjoyed mushroom hunting, going boating and fishing on Lake Erie, taking his family on vacations to Daytona Beach, FL and Gatlinburg, TN and spending time with his family to create lasting memories and leave a legacy.

Devoted husband and loving second dad to his wife and daughters of over 43 years, Laura Schaefer (Pat Drees) of Fort Loramie, OH and Lysa (Rihm) Morris and to her husband, his son-in-law, John Morris of Hilliard, OH.

Proud Pappy to his grandchildren, the late Kayla Schaefer, Kody (Lydia) Schaefer of Piqua, OH, Evan Singleman of Greenville, OH, Toni Morris and Kaysi Morris of Hilliard, OH and his great-grandchildren, Hayli Boner and Carson Boner of Greenville, OH.

Eldest Brother to his siblings, Vicky (Bob) Fields of Mendon, OH, the late Belinda Dynes, the late Rick Dynes and his wife, Cheryl Dynes of Ansonia, OH, Rocksand (Joby) Hollinger of Greenville, OH and Stoney Dynes of Piqua, OH.

In addition to his parents and those predeceased above, Bobby was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Van and Wanda (Richards) Young; paternal grandparents, Walter and Margarite (Clapp) Dynes; parents-in-law, Donald and Gertrude (Alcorn) Miller; sister-in-law, Sheryl and her husband, Tom DeHart; and brother-in-law, Glenn Miller.

Bobby looked forward to attending weekly church services at Triumphant Christian Center and now as a believer in Christ, he's been called home to end his suffering. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

A celebration of Bobby’s life will be held at the Triumphant Christian Center in Greenville, OH with Pastor Sam Shilot officiating. Details will be shared at a later date.

Karley Justine Borger (January 20, 2021)

Karley Justine Borger, 27, of Arcanum, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly, along with her fiancé, Andre Fish, on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, as the result of an automobile accident.

She was born on March 31, 1993, in Oxford, Ohio to Scott Borger and Chantel Kendrick.

Karley was bright, honest and selfless. She enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, and could not make it through her day without her iced coffee. Her family meant the world to her. She was a loving aunt, and an amazing mother. Her boys meant everything to her. Her sudden departure from this life has shook the foundation of her family and her sweet enduring spirit will be missed forever.

In addition to her parents, Karley is survived by her sons, Bentley and Carter; her stepmother, Dona Rice; her siblings, Valan and Seth Houlton of Cincinnati, Vance and Erin Borger of Yellow Springs, and Ryan Borger of Lynn, Indiana; her step-siblings, Macie Gillum of Trotwood, Hannah Gillum of Trotwood, and Abbey Youngker of Englewood; her nieces and nephews, Abbie, Grant, Nora, Rachael, Luke, Jacob, Ellie, Hope, Zander, Paxton, Linkin, Elias, and Aero; her grandparents, Timothy and Beverly Borger of Greenville, and Sherrie Kendrick of College Corner, Ohio; and her aunt and uncles, Kym and Roger Cost of Greenville, and John Kendrick of Hawaii.

A private funeral service for the immediate family will take place at a later date.

Sally L. Coomer (January 14, 2021)

Sally L. Coomer, age 77, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away peacefully, with her three children at her bedside, on Thursday, January 14, 2021, after suffering complications of COVID.

She was born on September 30, 1943, in Springfield, Ohio, to the late Rev. Harry W. and Ferne C. (Holton) Heath.

In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Coomer, and sister Cynthia F. Snyder.

She is survived by her children, William C. Coomer III, of Versailles, Jon and Ami (Franz) Coomer of Greenville, Ohio, and Carrie S. Coomer of Loveland, Ohio; her grandsons, Will and Heath Coomer of Greenville. Additionally, she is survived by her sisters, Angela (Allen) Haltiner of Alpena, Michigan, Susan Roberts of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Sara (Marc) Martinez of Tucson, Arizona, and her brother, Tim (Martha) Heath of Nokomis, Florida, along with many nieces and nephews.

Sally graduated in 1961 from Northeastern High School, east of Springfield, Ohio, near the little town of Catawba. After high school she attended Anderson University to become a home economics teacher, but decided she wanted to be a homemaker instead, which she did with great zest! Not only was she a homemaker, she was an artist, a seamstress, a cook, a baker, a caregiver, gardener, bicycle repairman, a cheer coach, pitcher, home flipper, painter, bookkeeper and even a roofer! But her favorite two titles were wife and mom. She was stubborn and determined enough to do anything she set her mind to as long as she could have supper ready by 5:30!

In her spare time, she could never sit still, so you’d find her outside inline skating, jumping on the trampoline, ice skating, sledding, biking, twirling baton and even snowmobiling. If she was inside, the activity of choice was always heated games of Ping Pong against Bill or Jon, and just as competitive against her grandsons!

Her favorite place for the last 50 years has been her home in Versailles where she always felt safe and loved the positivity and friendliness of the people. When she did leave home, her favorite destination was to the Florida heat and beaches with any of her children and grandchildren.

While an introvert by nature, she would attend many business dinners alongside Bill whilst fooling everyone she was having a great time, when she’d really rather have just been at home!

Paul Dean Howe (January 3. 2021)

Paul Dean Howe, age 65, of Union City, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 3. 2021.

Paul was born November 7, 195,5 in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Paul Howe, Jr. and Betty (Carr) Howe.

He was married in Duval County, Florida on September 7, 1998, to Sheryl Holcombe, who passed away on December 17, 2015, in Jacksonville, Florida.

In addition to his parents and wife, Paul was preceded in death by his stepfather, Duane Johnson; and his brothers, Brian Johnson and Mark Johnson.

Paul is survived by his siblings, Russell “Rusty” Howe of Versailles, Ohio, Danny Howe and wife Bonita (Bonnie) of Rossburg, Ohio, Brian Johnson’s wife, Angie Austin Williams of Florissant, Missouri, and Mark Johnson’s wife Sheryl of Byesville, Ohio. He is also survived by Leigh Ann and husband, Greg Morris, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces.

Paul lived in Ithaca, Ohio growing up and attended Arcanum and Mississinawa schools with the class of 1974. He was proud of his time served in the Navy, working on airplanes and traveling abroad. He met his wife, Sheryl, when stationed in Jacksonville NAS and lived in Florida.

He was a self-employed carpenter and built a log cabin in Jacksonville where he lived until his wife passed away. Paul then sold the house and moved to Union City, Indiana. He enjoyed riding and working on his Harley Davidson motorcycles and hanging out with his friends. He like taking long rides on his Harley, like the Tail of the Dragon ride. He loved to set off fireworks and sit around a fire with friends.

A memorial service for Paul with his family and friends will be held at a later date.

Cynthia Mae “Weezie” Fitzgerald (January 15, 2021)

Cynthia Mae “Weezie” Fitzgerald, 66, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.

She was born on December 27, 1954, in Greenville, to the late Junior Beam and Linda (Keaser) Brenner.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Richard LaFuze.

Cindy enjoyed the simple life; playing bingo, going to the casino, and watching Lifetime movies. She loved her family and looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Everyone loved her Sunday Dinners and enjoyed her famous beef potpie and potato salad.

She is survived by her husband (it’s complicated), Chuck Fitzgerald; her children, Melissa (Greg) Byrd of Greenville, and Matthew (Linda) Fitzgerald of Laura, Ohio; her grandchildren, Natasha Kenworthy, of Greenville, Codi Byrd of Greenville, Austin (Becca) Fitzgerald of Rossburg, Ohio, Chase Fitzgerald of Union City, Ohio, Jasmine (Matt) Martin of Greenville, Joshua Byrd of Kettering, Ohio, and Justyse Byrd of Kettering; her great grandchildren, Baylee Andorfer, Graysen Mize, Logan Fitzgerald, Grace Morris, Kayden Martin, Chloe Martin, Connor Martin and one on the way. Cindy is also survived by her siblings, Tammy (Dennis) Cothran of South Carolina, Pinky LaFuze of Greenville, Tonya (Bruce Glaze) Beasley of Greenville, Lisa Beam Garrett, Robin Beam Rice, Bobby Beam, and Brian White; her nieces and nephews, Chasity Graves, Kelly Megan Wilson, Kailea Cramer, Wesley Cothran, Shelly Knick, and Scott Beasley; and her dearest friends, Joanie Beam, Tammy Elliott, and Sharon Hutchison.

Elizabeth "Dori" Howdieshell (January 13, 2021)

Elizabeth "Dori" Howdieshell, 67, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton due to complications with COVID-19.

She was born on August 5, 1953, in Dunn, North Carolina, to the late Walter and Ida (Meech) Ivey. In addition to her parents, Dori was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Paul Howdieshell, and her surrogate mother, Angie Ronde.

Dori is survived by her husband of 28 years, Mark Howdieshell, whom she married on September 26, 1992; her children, Melissa (Bass-Boatright) Hendrickson and her husband, Bobby, of Lewisburg, Ohio, Arthur "Bubba" Dewey Boatright, Jr. and his wife, Tonya, of Greenville; her grandchildren, Alex (fiancé Jacob Meyers), Bo and Colt Hendrickson, Brooke Crider, and Wyatt and Garrett Boatright; her mother-in-law, Donna Howdieshell; her great grandchildren, Zade, Cruz and Aris Fader, and Oliver Boatright. Dori is also survived by her brothers, Charles Ivey and his wife, Caroline, of Ladson, South Carolina, Raymond Ivey and his wife, Lorretta, of Wesley Chapel, Florida; and her brother-in-law, Kenny Howdieshell of Greenville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dori was the matriarch of the family. She loved with everything she had and gave all she could. She was a bright light in her community. She owned and operated Tropical Isle Tanning Salon for 25 years and was a sales associate at Harbor Freight for the past four years. She was a past member of the Greenville City Council, Darke County Republican Party Central Committee Secretary, Darke County Woman's Club, She co-chaired with the late Barb Fee, for several years, The Darke County Republican Party Pig Roast, was a board member and past chairman of the Darke County Cancer Association, and past Deputy Grand Regent of the Women of the Moose. She was a member of the Greenville Moose chapter #102, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and Greenville VFW Auxiliary. Dori loved to laugh, joke and get together with her many friends and family. She was one of those people who just drew others to her. Wherever she went, she made friends, and she never neglected to keep in touch with them.

Dori will always live in the hearts of her beloved family and friends. As a wife, mother, and grandmother, she had endless love for us. I can only hope the kindness, compassion, and sincerity she has shown over the years remains with us as we mourn her passing and celebrate her life. May God keep her in his amazing grace. We love you Mother, Nana, Dori! To all those who knew her well, "Dori has left the building".

Celebration of Dori's life will take place on May 8, 2021, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Greenville Moose Lodge.

Joseph Nicholas Goubeaux (January 13, 2021)

Joseph Nicholas Goubeaux, 85, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 in Dayton, Ohio.

He was born September 7, 1935, in Frenchtown, Ohio, to the late Theodore & Esther (Bulchur) Goubeaux.

In Addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his wife Peggy (Mullenix) Goubeaux, whom he married on August 18, 1953. Joseph was the youngest of 11 siblings, all preceded in death, Paul "Pete" Goubeaux, Robert Edward Goubeaux, Lewis Francis Goubeaux, Mary Edith Byram, Edgar Cletus Goubeaux, Thomas Homer Goubeaux, Luella Margueritte Parent, Jannette Lucy Simmons, Roger William Goubeaux, and Daniel Jerome Goubeaux.

Joseph is survived by his Children, Daniel & Alice (Stammen) Goubeaux of Dawn, Ohio, Mark Goubeaux of Greenville, Scott & Lori (Smiley) Goubeaux of Greenville, and Cynthia Goubeaux of Dayton; his grandchildren, Justin Goubeaux of St Petersburg, Florida, Craig & Erica (Shahan) Goubeaux of Greenville, Nicholas & Melinda (Garza) Goubeaux of Celina, Ohio, and Lisa Goubeaux of Denver, Colorado; and his great grandchildren, Violet Goubeaux and Nicholas Goubeaux, both of Celina, Ohio.

Joseph retired from Fram where he worked as a toolmaker for 25 years. He had a great passion for the Stock Market and admired Lee Iacocca, Marty Zweig and Louis Rukeyser.

Joe had a true love for poetry and would often recite passages on a whim. One of his favorite poets was Edgar Allen Poe.

Mary Karen Fullenkamp age 66, of Frenchtown passed away at 6:12 PM on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Reid Health in Richmond, Indiana.

Karen was born August 13, 1954, in Eastern, Kentucky, to the late Raymond A. & Opal M. (Amburgey) Osborne. In addition to her parents, Karen was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Joseph Fullenkamp on August 27, 2020, whom she married October 6, 1972; and a brother, Brodie Osborne.

Billy Gene Buster (January 12, 2021)

Billy Gene Buster, 94, of Union City, Ohio, passed away, peacefully, on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, in his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born on June 17, 1926, in Imboden, Arkansas, to the late William Hester and Anna (Johnson) Buster.

In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Alleta (Poe) Buster.

Billy was an honored WWII veteran serving his country in the United States Navy. He retired from the United States Postal Service in 1987 after many years of service. He belonged to the Radiant Lighthouse Church in Greenville and was a member of the Jayland Woodcarving Club in Portland, Indiana.

Billy is survived by his children, Ronald (Paula) Buster of Elwood, Indiana, Brenda (Danny) Carter of Cape Coral, Florida, and Lori (Phillip) Lynch of Union City, Indiana; his grandchildren, Gregory Buster, April (Kirk) Retherford, Jamey (Tonya) Buster, Wendy (Roland) Crouch, Ben Hensley, Aaron (Kathi) Hensley, Wesley (April) Lynch and Kelli (Doug) Longfellow; 26 great grandchildren; 20 step-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren, with one more on the way

A celebration of Billy's life, with full military honors conducted by the Greenville Honor Guard, will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 18, 2021 at Radiant Lighthouse Church, 5256 Sebring Warner Road, Greenville, Ohio, with Reverends Wes Lynch and Hershel Fee officiating.

Edna A. Grilliot (January 12, 2021)

Edna A. Grilliot age 91, of Versailles passed away at 9:10 PM on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville.

Edna was born May 13, 1929, in Ft. Recovery to the late William & Caroline (Selhorst) Huelskamp. In addition to her parents, Edna was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. “Bob” Grilliot on October 10, 2008, whom she married July 7, 1951; brothers, Louis and Ralph Huelskamp; sisters, Mary Huelskamp, Ann Schmitmeyer-Dillhoff, Irene Siefring and Marcella Huelskamp; brothers-in-law, Earl Grilliot, Herbert Grilliot and Lawrence Huelskamp; and sisters-in-law, Jean Grilliot and Dorothy Siefring.

Edna is survived by her children, John & Louise Grilliot of Versailles, Rose Grilliot of Versailles, Louis & Teresa Grilliot of Versailles, Herman & Teresa Grilliot of Louisville, Kentucky and Margie & Rick Heitkamp of Versailles; grandchildren, Lisa & Scott Brooks, Joseph & Rachael Grilliot, Carrie & James Wilker, Susan & Marty Arlinghaus, Diana & Matt Poeppelman, Dan Grilliot, Sharon & Chris Barga, Lauren & Ryan Nixon, Chris Grilliot, Beth & Joel Fahey, Jason Grilliot, Jennifer Grilliot, Nicole & Kevin Paulus, Mindy & Brad Luthman, Jessica & Brandon Christian and Dean Heitkamp; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Bowers of Dayton; sisters-in-law, Mary Huelskamp of Greenville and Joan Grilliot of Versailles; brother-in-law, Clarence Siefring; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Edna was a homemaker and helped her husband on the dairy farm. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Frenchtown and St. Anne’s Sodality of the church. Edna enjoyed planting her huge garden, playing cards and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. Jim Simons celebrant. Sylvia Diane Stryker (January 11, 2021)

Sylvia Diane Stryker, 74, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at her home on Monday, January 11, 2021.

She was born on January 30, 1946, in Greenville to the late Walter and Wavalene (Eley) Bromagem.

In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her sister Shirley Franklin.

Sylvia loved her family and spent every moment she could with them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling to Holmes County and spending time in Amish country. Sylvia and her husband, Ivan, attended the Pleasant View Missionary Church for many years.

Sylvia is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ivan L. Stryker, whom she married on February 6, 1965; her children, Kelly Falknor of West Manchester, Ohio, Kevin and Kathy Stryker of Greenville, and Kirt Stryker and his fiancé, Melissa Schmidt, of Greenville; her grandchildren, Ashley and Jordan Liette, Amanda and Austin Ernst, Krystal Falknor and her fiancé, Braden Wolf, Kaitlin and Corey Higgins, Kristen and Trey Mong, Sierra Stryker, and Alyssa Stryker; her great grandchildren, Grayson and Carter Liette, Stryker Higgins, and Maverick Mong; and her siblings, Linda and Jim Knick, Gerold and Sheila Bromangem, Judy and Ed Baker, Nancy and Junior Brandt, and Walter and Debbie Bromagem.

A celebration of Sylvia’s life will take place at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, with Pastor Allen Sudmann officiating. Burial will follow in Newcomers Cemetery.

Evelyn Fae Klipstine (January 9, 2021)

Evelyn Fae Klipstine, age 94 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 12:55 PM Saturday January 9, 2021 at the Brethren Retirement Community of Greenville.  Evelyn was born August 2, 1926 in Darke County and the daughter of the late Samuel A. and Olive (Cassel) Overholser.

She retired in 1995 from Eikenberry’s IGA where she had been employed for some 40 years as Manager of the Deli Department.  Evelyn was a member of the EUM Church, Past President of the EUM Women’s Group of the church, a graduate of Gettysburg High School and a member of the Greenville VFW and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Richard E. Klipstine in 1984.  They were married in 1946.  Also her brothers Doyle Overholser of Union City, Indiana and Sylvan Overholser of Englewood, Ohio

Evelyn is survived by her children Sandy Klipstine of Greenville and Dr. Thomas R. Klipstine of Kissimmee, Florida; grandchildren and spouses Justin (September) Grubb of Covington, Ohio and Scott (Alycia) Klipstine of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania; great grandchildren Elijah, Eva and Elyse Klipstine as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday January 14, 2021 in the Gettysburg Cemetery Gettysburg, Ohio with Pastor Sylvia McKibben officiating.

Mary Elizabeth Lane (January 10, 2020)

Mary Elizabeth Lane, 95, of Ansonia, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2020, at the Brethren Retirement Community.

She was born on March 21, 1925, in Liberty, Indiana, to the late John and Ruth (Shinn) Shell.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husbands, John Henning, Wilbur Baker, and Hubert Lane; her son Ralph Henning, her daughter, Mary Rismiller; her sisters, Ruby Holland, Sharon Shell, and Betty Wagoner; and her brother, Emerson Shell.

Mary was blessed with a long and fruitful life. She devoted her life to raising and teaching her children and grandchildren. When she was younger, she wouldn’t drive, but would always take the time to walk her children to visit the park, shops, or family. She took the time to teach them how to take care of themselves. She taught them how to cook, can and raise a garden. She loved to sew and there weren’t that many things she couldn’t iron. As a teenager, she enjoyed being involved with 4-H and being an advisor. Mary was loving yet stern, caring yet demanding, and soft yet hard as nails. She left her mark on the world and her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will carry on her legacy.

Mary is survived by her children, Martha (Tom Diesel) Everman of Ansonia, Bertha (Tom Collins) Archey of Ansonia, Leonard (Robin) Baker of Greenville, Ohio, and Wilma Flack of Ansonia; her daughter-in-law, Sandra Henning of Versailles, Ohio; her son-in-law, John Rismiller of Ansonia; her 15 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. Mary also leaves behind her siblings, Jack Shell, George Shell, Charles (Lucille) Shell, Chester (Stella) Shell, Rosalie Thiebeau, and Nancy York, all of Greenville.

A Celebration of Mary’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, with Pastor Steve Short officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Greenville.

Mary’s family will be receiving guests on Thursday, from 11:00 AM until the time of her service at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.

Betty Catherine Kress (January 8, 2021)

Betty Catherine Kress, 80, of Ansonia, Ohio, passed away at her home on Friday, January 8, 2021.

She was born on September 6, 1940, in Mercer County, Ohio, to the late Rita (Hamman) Wenning.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Lee Kress; her brother, Robert Hamman; and her sister, Mary Ann Klingshirn.

Betty was a hardworking woman, who loved her family. She was a devout farm wife and was often found outside helping her husband, Roger, on the farm. She had a gambling spirit and loved to play scratch-off tickets and bingo. She enjoyed gardening and doing puzzle books.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Tina (Ron) Schoen of Coldwater, Ohio; her sons, Edward Kress of Ansonia, and David Kress of Greenville; her grandchildren, Eddie Kress, Tyler Kress, Taylor Keaser, Macy Keaser, Dustin Bolenbaugh, Adam Brocious, Troy Schoen, and Clayton Schoen; her great grandchild, Isaiah Brocious; and her brother, Richard Wenning.

A celebration of Betty’s life will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, with Pastor Wes Lynch officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.

Wanda Mae (Arnett) Bolyard (January 9th, 2021)

Wanda Mae (Arnett) Bolyard passed peacefully at home January 9th, 2021 after living with dementia for over ten years. She was born December 18th, 1934 to Lewis and Goldie (Hines) Arnett in their home in Greenville, Ohio. A self-professed country girl, Wanda milked a cow every morning before attending a one-room schoolhouse for first through eighth grade. She was a graduate of Greenville Senior High School in 1952. She attended Miami Jacobs Business School in Dayton and worked as a secretary in an attorney’s office. 

After returning home to Greenville, Wanda was set up on a date to go bowling with Don Bolyard; sparking over 60 years of happy marriage. She worked alongside her husband to start Bolyard Heating & Cooling and to maintain their 160 acre farm. They enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe, but she always said that there was no place like home. She was a kind, gentle and loving mother and grandmother who taught us all that “every day is a good day that God gives you.”

Wanda is preceded in death by her parents Lewis and Goldie (Hines) Arnett, her sister and brother-in-laws Betty Lou and Dwayne Rolfe, and Martha Lee and Gene Riegle; her brother and sister-in-law Willard Lewis and Pat Arnett, and sister-in-law Clara Arnett. 

She is survived by her husband, Don, three children and their spouses: Barry and Barb Bolyard; Jeff and Danette Bolyard; and Lisa and Maurice Herron. Wanda is also survived by her brother Andy Joe Arnett, and her sister and brother-in-law Charlene and Roger Black. She has six grandchildren: Steve Bolyard, Bret Bolyard, Rachel Bolyard, Olivia Herron, Clayton Herron and Julia Herron. She also has two great-grandchildren: Cassey Bolyard and Thomas Courtney. 

Private Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 12th, in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Rev. Don Myers officiating. Hayley Mariah Worden (January 5, 2021)

Hayley Mariah Worden, 15, of Covington, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021.

She was born on January 25, 2005, in Dayton, Ohio, to Bryan Worden and Angela (Martin) Foster.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Bill Worden, and her uncle, Mike Jones.

Hayley was full of life and brimming with promise. At only 15 years of age, she had already determined what she was going to devote her life to. Her love of children and desire to help others had driven her to choose a career in nursing, specifically, pediatric nursing. Hayley was a sophomore at Hardin-Houston High School, where she played basketball, softball and most recently ran track. She was a member of FFA and loved caring for all her animals. She had chickens, ducks, cats, dogs, a ferret, a rabbit, and countless other furry friends over the years. She had looked forward to having her own little farm where she could finally get a horse. Hayley was rambunctious, giggly, caring, and compassionate. She was stunningly beautiful but loved four-wheeling and getting muddy. She has touched the heart and souls of all who knew her. She is loved and missed dearly.

Hayley is survived by her parents, Bryan (Christina) Worden of Palm Coast, Florida, and Angela (Chris) Foster of Covington; her brothers and sisters, Caiden Jones, Brooklynn Worden, Michael Foster, and Alexandria Foster; her grandparents, Jami Worden of Greenville, Ohio, Pam Vallandingham of Cocoa Beach, Florida, Debbie Cissner of Piqua, Ohio, Blaine and Debbie Jones of Greenville, and Steve and Jenny Foster of Piqua. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles, Shanna (Mark) Totton of Troy, Ohio, Jessi Worden of Arcanum, Adena Fussnecker of Keene, North Dakota, Chris (Lindsey) Jones of Seymour, Indiana, Daniel Carle of Palatka, Florida, and Donnie Martin; her great-aunts and uncles, Cyndi (Gerald) Hartman of Arcanum, Dave Worden of Stelvideo, Ohio, and many other greats who are not named; her cousins, Bria, Kaylee, and Aiden Elliott, Devin Beisner, Trinity Schweitzer, and countless other cousins, family members and friends.

A celebration of Hayley’s life will be held at 6:00 PM on Sunday, January 10, 2021, at Faith Baptist Church, 740 Russ Rd, Greenville, OH 45331, with Pastor Bill Dobson officiating.

Burial will be at Wheelock Cemetery in West Milton on Monday, January 11, 2021.

Hayley’s family will be receiving guests on Sunday from 3:00 PM until the time of the service at 6:00PM at the church.

Ronald L. Benning age 76, of Versailles passed away at 4:40 AM on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Fox Run Senior Living in Fairborn.

Ronald was born March 23, 1944, in Miami County to the late Herman F. & Wanda D. (Roeth) Benning.

Ronald is survived by his children, Melody & Roger Dawson Jr. of Jamestown, Randy & Jan Benning of Xenia and Michelle Willis of Xenia; grandchildren, Roger “Trey” & Lauren Dawson III, Jessie & Nick Combs, Lindsay & DJ Brewer, Nick Willis, Danielle Wilder, Codey Benning, Chloe Benning and Conner Benning; and great-grandchildren, Dakoda Benning, Nova Wilder and Presley Brewer.

Ronald retired from Hobart Brothers in Troy with 35 ½ years of service. He also worked at Dick Lavy Trucking and C & C Ag Carriers.
