Betty L. Meyer age 80 of Versailles, Ohio passed away at 4:45 A.M. on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Hospice of Dayton. Betty was born October 4, 1929 in North Star, Ohio, to the late Alvin & Mildred (Beisner) Brown.
Betty was secretary and treasure for Eugene Meyer Trucking in Versailles, since 1955. She formerly worked at the Versailles Board of Public Affairs and Wills Jewelry Store in Versailles. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Willowdell, the church choir and the Versailles Coterie Club. Betty was a people person, she was always thinking and giving to others, before herself. Betty especially enjoyed visiting people at Versailles Health Care Center, where she brightened their day.
In addition to her parents, Betty is also preceded in death by her husband, Eugene F. Meyer on March 20, 2010, whom she married June 18, 1950; and a brother, Robert Brown.
Betty is survived by a son, Kelly E. Meyer and fiancée, Kimberley Willey of Versailles; brother & sister-in-law, James & Anne Brown of Ashland, Virginia; sisters & brothers-in-law, Janet & Fred Banks of Versailles and Nancy & Joe Taylor of Versailles; sister-in-law, Linda Brown of Appleton, Wisconsin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty was a blessing to her family and she will be missed by many.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Willowdell, with Pastor Laura A. Shreffler officiating. In Lieu of flowers, it is the wishes of the family that memorial contributions be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Willowdell or any Hospice Organization in Betty’s memory. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles.
