He worked in the plumbing, roofing & heating industries. He served in the United States Army in World War II. His grandfather Ben T. was very influential in his life. He was an avid sports player playing baseball, basketball, bowling, and golf. He is preceded in death by his parents; Wife: Alice Parent; Stillborn Daughter; & grandparents: Ben T. & Mary E. Miller.
He is survived by his daughter & son in law: Pamela & Ken Emrick of Greenville; Special Friend: Mary Brinley of Greenville; Grandchildren & spouses: Emily & Ira Shertzer of Silver Springs, Maryland, Gina & Darrell Fryman of Greenville, Travis Emrick at home; Sisters: Lora Lee Peters of New Carlisle, Ohio, Mary Virginia Amburgey of Dayton; and a few nieces & nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday May 8, 2010 at 3:00 PM at Greenville Cemetery New Section with Rev. Joe Soley officiating. Family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on Saturday at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio. Veterans Graveside services will be conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Christian Church or State of the Heart Hospice.
