Mary Louise Monnin (January 14, 2011)

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Mary Louise Monnin, age 82, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 1:30 A.M. at good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton. Daughter of the late Magdalene (Barhorst) Grilliot and also the daughter of the late Otto Grilliot; she was born on August 9, 1928 near Russia, Ohio.

Survivors include her daughters, Rebecca and Robert Condon, Bonnie and Larry Barga, both of Versailles; and her son, Robert and Angela Monnin of Hilliard, Ohio. She was the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren, Tina and Kevin Wibbeler, Matt and Annelies Condon, Mandy Gawelek, Traci and Jason Anthony, Corrie and Brian Holthaus, TJ Barga, Abigail Monnin, Carly Monnin and Samuel Monnin. Her thirteen great grandchildren were a joy to her. They included Maggie, Emily, and Thomas Wibbeler, Kees, Kasper, and Frits Condon, Henry and Leo Gawelek, Connor and Caroline Anthony, Carmen Holthaus, and Jac and Brody Barga. Her siblings include Purcell and Louise Grilliot, Delbert Grilliot, Delores Siegrist, Elaine Berger, Anna Schmitz, Henrietta and Thomas Winner, Tony and Marita Grilliot. Preceding her in death were brothers, Cleo Grilliot and Mark Grilliot.

She graduated from Versailles high School with the Class of 1946 where she was proud to be a Tiger cheerleader, starting a long tradition in the family. Mary Lou enjoyed her annual Poultry Days reunion with her classmates and birthday lunches with her girlfriends. She had been employed at Poultry Producers, Argosy, and retired from Fram. She very much enjoyed her employment at Fram and being a member of the “Fram Fillies”. She was a member of the Versailles Eagles Auxiliary and an original member of both the Versailles Life Squad and the “Trashy Ladies” Trash is Cash. She faithfully attended St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 17, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. David Vincent celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery in Versailles. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 to 6:00 P.M. and Monday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles.
