Richard P. “Dick” Rentz, age 79, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Friday, January 7, 2011 at 8:15 AM at his residence. He was born on June 29, 1931 in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Albert & Wilma (Rose) Rentz.
He was a member of the United States Air Force. Dick worked in Business and was also a Teacher. He attended Greenville Grace Brethren Church. He was a member of the Community Blood Center Board and Greenville Masonic Lodge #143. Dick was a volunteer for the Greenville Athletic Department and was a member Greenville High School Hall of Fame. He sang in the Barbershop Chorus and was the secretary of the class of 1949.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn (Mendenhall) Rentz of Greenville, Ohio, whom he married on June 19, 1960; sons and daughter in law, John (Crystal) Rentz of Texas and David Rentz of California; twin brother, Robert Rentz of New Mexico; sister in law, Nancy Rentz of Maryland; as well as several nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of life held on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 11:30 AM at the Greenville Grace Brethren Church, 4805 St. Rt. 49 South, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Danny Wright officiating. There will be a private burial held at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 15, 2011 from 10-11:30 AM at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville.
It is the wishes of the family that memorial contributions be given to the Community Blood Center or State of the Heart Hospice.
