Perry Edward Kuhn left his earthly life on Sunday, January 2, 2011, to go to his heavenly reward. He was born to Perry A. and Bessie (Hammond) Kuhn in Pickaway County, Ohio, on December 30, 1923. At 14 years of age, he moved to Darke County, Ohio, where he lived the remainder of his life. He received an honorable medical discharge from the Navy during World War II in 1942. His love for music began at 16 years of age by playing in many country and western bands. However, after a dramatic conversion to Christ, he then devoted himself to gospel music. During the years, he played with many well-known gospel groups. He is also the father of the locally known Kuhn Sisters. He married the former Betty Paff from Arcanum, Ohio. They were blessed with 68 years of marriage and 5 children. He is survived by one son, William Edward Kuhn, and his wife, Joyce, of Granger, IN; four daughters and sons-in-law: Leora (Kuhn) and Emerson Minnich of Nappanee, IN; Marlyn (Kuhn) and Don Shellabarger of Brookville, OH; Janet (Kuhn) and James Dunwoody of Ansonia, OH; and Eva (Kuhn) and Harold (Sonny) Custer of Greenville, OH. God also blessed Perry and Betty with 16 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 10 step great-grandchildren and 3 step great-great-grandchildren. During the years, Perry worked in car sales and various factory positions, having finished his career being self-employed in Suburban TV Repair before retiring in 1988. Although a member of the Greenville Missionary Church, he was physically unable to attend for several years while he was a resident of Rest Haven Nursing Home. The wonderful staff and nurses there were such a blessing to him and his family in his final days here on earth. He is survived by his wife, Betty; a sister, Nona Aunspaw of San Jacinta, CA; his five children and their families and many nieces, nephews and friends. The funeral service will be held 10:30 AM Thursday January 6, 2011 at the Greenville Missionary Church with the Rev. Gary Oser officiating. Burial will follow in Abbottsville Cemetery. The visiting hours will be 4 – 8 PM Wednesday at the Kreitzer Funeral Home, Arcanum. Memorial contributions can be made to The Gideons International for Bibles in his honor.
