Oma C. Baker, 92, of Arcanum, died Friday, January 21, 2011 at Englewood Manor, Englewood. Mrs. Baker was born in Fremont, Virginia on September 16, 1918, the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Dunahoo) Philyaw. She was a member of Gordon United Methodist Church, Gordon and was owner/operator of the former Midway Market. She is preceded in death by her first husband Thomas Archer who died September 23, 1969 and her second husband Elmer Baker who died September 12, 1986, infant Daughter Joetta Archer, five Brothers Roy, Lonnie, Cecil, Felix, and Cuba Philyaw, and a sister Stella Green. Oma is survived by four Daughters Deloris Anne Meadows of Canal Winchester, Thelma Campbell and husband Bill of Knoxville, TN, Cathy Oswalt and husband Don of Arcanum, and Ruby Hutchens of Arcanum; Son Roger L. Archer and wife Sharon of Arcanum; 16 Grandchildren; numerous Great and Great Great Grandchildren. Graveside Services will be held 2:00 PM on Monday, January 24, 2011 at Archer Cemetery, Lashmeet, West Virginia with Rev Randolph Dishner officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends Sunday 2 - 5 PM at Kreitzer Funeral Home, Arcanum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
