Janice Kay Neff (December 28, 2020)

Janice Kay Neff, age 80 of Greenville, Ohio went to be with the Lord at 3:30 AM Monday December 28, 2020 with a non-Covid illness at the State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville.  Janice was born July 25, 1940 in Randolph County, Indiana and the daughter of the late Roy and Verna Mae (Hobbs) Woolridge.

She was first and foremost a homemaker, loving daughter, sister, wife and mother.  Janice had also retired as the Office Manager at Nisonger Realty and with her husband Jack owned and operated the 7th Heaven Arcade of Greenville where teenager kids played arcade games, pin ball machines and many other games.  They were also involved with many kids that later called them mom and dad even after the arcade closed.  She had a heart of gold!  She also enjoyed crocheting, reading, looking at Christmas lights and was famous for her old fashion cream pies.

Janice is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Jack Dean Neff July 30, 2015.  They were married July 1, 1961 at the Painter Creek Church of the Brethren.

She is survived by her son Dean Scott Neff of Greenville; daughters and sons-in-law law, Jerilene (Jeri) & Mark Sweitzer of Piqua, Ohio, and Jodi & Jimmy Besecker of Covington, Ohio.

She was also blessed with three adorable grandchildren she loved more than anything in the world:  Mark (Markie) Sweitzer, Jade (Austin) Hess and Jimmy Besecker; sister Joyce (Archie) Koogler of Covington, Ohio; brother Edman (Barbara) Woolridge of Virginia Beach, VA; sisters-in-law Veda Replinger,  Marena Drew, and aunt Sara Vanatta all of Greenville  as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Janice had requested that no funeral services would be conducted.  Arrangements are under the direction of Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.  It is the wishes of the family that memorial contributions be given to State of the Heart Hospice in Darke County.

Eddie L. Bryant (December 23, 2020)

Eddie L. Bryant age 65, of Piqua passed away at 6:25 PM on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy.

Eddie was born June 11, 1955, in Franklin, Kentucky to the late Roy & Cenia (Garland) Bryant. In addition to his parents, Eddie was also preceded in death by his brother, Stanley Bryant; sisters, Ingrid Coby and Esther McGraw; and half brothers, Bill and Ron Leddington.

Eddie is survived by his significant other, Rebecca Ramirez of Piqua; daughter, Rachael (Bryant) Strosnider & Mark Gray of Greenville; son, Daniel Bryant of California; granddaughter, Ashley Strosnider; brothers & sisters-in-law, Elzie & Nancy Bryant of Greenville and Mike & Asazallia Bryant of Greenville; sisters & brothers-in-law, Brenda Owens of Springfield, Mary & Kent Adams of Tennessee and Debra & Mike Longo of Michigan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Eddie served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the American Legion Post #184 in Piqua.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Arnold Wynn officiating. Burial will follow in Beamsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted by the Versailles Veteran’s Honor Guard. Marilyn S. Leas (December 25, 2020)

Marilyn S. Leas age 80, of Greenville passed away peacefully in her sleep at 9:23 AM on Friday, December 25, 2020, at her residence. 

Marilyn was born May 4, 1940, in Darke County to the late Marion D. & Pauline (Powell) Hufford. In addition to her parents, Marilyn was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. “Buck” Leas on May 15, 1988.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Michael C. & Bonnie Leas of West Liberty and Julie Hart of Greenville; grandchildren, Robert & Ellie Leas, Tyler Leas, Ashley & William DeBord and Erin & Josh Redd; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Liam, Emily, Braxton, Tyler Jr., Jace, Peyton, Sawyer, Saylor, Sara and Nattie; and sister, Shirley Minsterman of Greenville.

Marilyn retired in 2013 from Greenville City Schools where she was an Elementary Teacher for 37 years. She was a member of the First Congregational Christian Church in Greenville. 

A Celebration of Marilyn’s Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at Gospel Baptist Church 115 West 5th St. Greenville with Pastor Japheth Bear officiating. Phyllis Jean (Bolinger) Bunger (December 26, 2020)

Phyllis Jean (Bolinger) Bunger, 89, of New Madison, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2020, at State of the Heart Care Center of COVID-19.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson F. Bunger, with whom she shared 68 years of marriage. Phyllis and Wilson loved to travel, taking many bus trips and vacationing in Florida over many winters. Phyllis loved to take in the shows at the Schuster Performing Arts Center and Victoria Theater in Dayton, the La Comedia Dinner Theater in Springboro, and recently, the Community Theater in Brookville. Phyllis loved following the Cincinnati Reds baseball team and enjoyed cheering for the Dayton Dragons.

Also preceding her in death were her mother, Ruby (Slade) Bolinger Blair of Xenia, OH, and her father, Ralph Bolinger of Cape Coral, Florida; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Janet (Bolinger) and Bennie Sutton of Arcanum, OH; and Norma (Bolinger) and Gene Gilbert of Greenville, OH; and great-granddaughter, Ava Brianne Henry of Greenville, OH.

Phyllis graduated from Arcanum High School in 1949. She was a long-time farm wife; worked at the Dayton Racquet Factory in Arcanum, OH for over 25 years stringing tennis, badminton and varies other types of racquets; served on the Butler Township Election Board; was a member of the Ft. Black Eastern Star; was a long-standing member of the Savona EUB Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher and member of the Ladies’ Aide, and, most recently, was a member of the New Madison United Methodist Church.

Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Paulette Garrison and Jerry; her son, Dennis Bunger and Lois; grandchildren, Matt Garrison and Amy, Lauren (Garrison) Henry and Chad; Rachal Bunger; Jessica (Bunger) Couvutsakis and Jason; and Denise (Bunger) Whited and Shawn; and great-grandchildren, Drew and Alex Garrison; Carson, Ethan and Garrison Henry; Eleanor Pease and Avery Bowser; Jacob, Bryce and Violet Couvutsakis.

Phyllis was devoted to her family and loved getting together for the holidays, especially Christmas, which was her favorite time of the year. Phyllis went to many school and sporting events for the grandchildren and the great-grandchildren over the years. Phyllis had many hobbies, especially shopping and playing the slot machines at the casinos. Phyllis also enjoyed reading information about John and Jackie Kennedy and the British Royal Family.

A private family graveside service will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Fort Jefferson.

Betty Eileen Shives (December 27, 2020)

Betty Eileen Shives, 92, of New Madison, Ohio passed away at 8:15 AM on Sunday, December 27, 2020, at the Brethren Retirement Community. She was born November 17, 1928, in Union City, Ohio, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Dorothy (Beam) Detamore.

Betty was married to Richard Shives for 67 years. He first met her as she was playing in a mud puddle at Hunchbarger Corners and he first asked her to marry him in second grade. Their first date (they were 13) was a class picnic and he picked her up driving his father’s Buick! She finally gave in and they were married on September 5, 1953. Their relationship was filled with laughter and love. She is survived by sons John (Renee Benanzer) Shives, David (Jill Waymire) Shives (both of Greenville), and daughter Anne (John) Hoenes of Centerville, Ohio; 7 grandchildren, Emily (Jay) Hartman, Rachel (Nathan) Silknitter, Margaret Shives, Clint Shives, Ashley (Dustin) Yount, Mary Hoenes, and Andrew Hoenes; and 12 great-grandchildren; brothers Billy Detamore of McComb, Ohio, and Phillip Detamore of Union City, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She graduated as a Registered Nurse from Miami Valley Hospital in 1949, and achieved her Bachelor’s from Otterbein College in 1951. She was proud to be the third generation of her family to graduate from Otterbein.

Whenever you drove up their lane, you would often find Betty bent over in her flowerbeds working away. She always had a smile on her face when she looked up, especially if it were the grandkids. She and Dick began collecting and restoring antiques early in their marriage and their home was full to bursting and she loved it! Whether it was traveling abroad, showing a draft pony, or just sitting down for a meal with family she enjoyed every moment.

Robert G. “Jerry” Corn (December 25, 2020)

Robert G. “Jerry” Corn age 71, of Greenville passed away at 11:10 AM on Friday, December 25, 2020, at Park View Nursing Center in Edgerton, Ohio.

Jerry was born March 15, 1950, in Harrodsburg, Kentucky to the late Robert C. & Marguerite (Catlett) Corn.

Jerry is survived by 2 brothers, 3 sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jerry graduated from Greenville High School with the Class of 1968.

Sally S. Franz (December 24, 2020)

Sally S. Franz, 71, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

She was born on January 18, 1949, in Darke County to the late Vernon and Leora (Swabb) Stickley.

In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by her siblings, Robert Stickley and Judith Ann “Judy” Stickley.

Sally was a beautiful wife, mother, and grandmother; who valued family, faith, and service to others. She spent countless hours volunteering at the clothing bank, taking care of adults with disabilities, and caring for family and friends at the Brethren Home. Sally answered every call to help others when asked.

Sally is survived by her husband of 52 years, Dan T. Franz, whom she married on October 10, 1968; her daughters, Ami Coomer and her husband, Jon, of Greenville, and Stephanie “Stacy” Simons and her husband, Christopher, of Cincinnati; her grandsons, Will and Heath; and her granddaughters, Audrey and Elena “Laney”.

A celebration of Sally’s life will take place at 12:30 PM on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus, with Pastor Peter Menke officiating. Burial will follow in Abbottsville Cemetery.

Virginia Lois (Hepner) Tienken (December 25, 2020)

Virginia Lois (Hepner) Tienken, age 93, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 10:08 a.m. Friday, December 25, 2020 at the Oakley Place of Greenville. 

She was born April 7, 1927, in Brooklyn, New York and the daughter of the late Cora Guerry and Volney Hepner and step father, Peter Guerry. In addition to her parents, Virginia was also preceded in death by her husband, Martin Tienken.

Virginia is survived by her son, Robert Champness and granddaughters, Abigail and Bella Champness

Virginia graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York and served many years in the food service division for New York Public Schools. Virginia was passionate about music, especially playing the piano, cooking, and most of all, loving and serving the Lord. Virginia was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Greenville.

A Celebration of Virginia’s Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Rick Young officiating. Chase Michael Spencer (December 21, 2020)

Chase Michael Spencer, 35, of New Madison, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 21, 2020, as a result of an automobile accident.

Chase was born on November 7, 1985, in Richmond, Indiana, to Toby Spencer of New Madison, and the late Rebecca Ann (Napier) Spencer.

In addition to his mother, Chase was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Lowell Eugene Spencer, and his maternal grandparents, Christopher and Maxine Napier.

Chase was a 2004 graduate of Tri-Village High School. During school he was very active and played several sports. His love for sports continued after school and he enjoyed playing golf with his family and friends. He liked the outdoors and was known for his love of hunting and fishing.  Chase enjoyed motocross and spent several years racing and was planning on returning to the track in the near future. In his free time, Chase would play cards and darts with his friends, and would often spend afternoons at the horse racetrack. He was always the life of the party and enjoyed joking with others to make them smile.

Chase had a work ethic like no other. He was passionate and particular in all that he did. He worked along the side of his dear friend, Brian Jones, and loved Brian’s family as his own. Chase had lots of friends that he considered family. To Chase, blood meant nothing. Everyone was his family, and he was a part of the “brotherhood,” which is inseparable.

In addition to his father, Toby and his significant other, Deb Thobe, Chase is survived by his daughter, Annabeck Lynn Spencer; his many kids that he loved as his own, Jason, Kasen, Quinton, Mady, and Taylor; his girlfriend, the love of his life, Eliza Bair of West Elkton, Ohio; his brothers, Nate Sebring, Aaron and Chantelle Sebring, and Justin Spencer and Marissa Steen, all of New Madison; his paternal grandmother, Wyoneda Stephens of Hollansburg, Ohio; and numerous aunts, uncles, and friends.

A celebration of Chase’s life will take place at 1:00 PM on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Tribute Funeral Homes, 1000 N. Broadway Street, Greenville, Ohio.

Chase’s family will be receiving friends on Saturday, December 26, 2020, at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM.

Todd A. Stevens (December 22, 2020)

Todd A. Stevens age 56, of Greenville passed away at 2:13 AM on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, in the ER at Wayne HealthCare in Greenville.

Todd was born September 20, 1964, in Greenville to Sharon (Stevens) Warren of Greenville and the late Willard Warren. In addition to his mother, Todd is survived by his wife, Cheryl (Nixon) Stevens of West Milton; children, Josiah & Stephanie Stevens of Florida, Nicole & Ryan Hope of Englewood and Samantha Stevens of West Milton; grandchildren, Mariah Stevens, Brittany Stevens, Lacey Stevens, Aidan Stevens, Ethan Stevens, Adalyn Hope and James Hope; and sisters, Amy Hanish of Florida, Emily Jackson of Greenville and Amanda & Dave Moore of Gahanna.

Betty Lou Burk (December 21, 2020)

Betty Lou Burk, 87, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020, at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.

She was born on July 31, 1933, in Coletown, Ohio, to the late Corby and Irene (Reeser) Enochs.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Hollie F. Burk; her infant son, Rodney Allen; her twin sister, Patty Lou Nease, her sister, Helen Godown; and her brothers, Lloyd, Robert, and Gene Enoch.

Music was a very important part of Betty’s life. She entertained audiences in her younger days playing the mandolin in Bob Cook’s band and then her husband, Hollie’s band, “Mavericks”, Betty also loved playing the mandolin and organ for family and friends, entertaining them for years while her husband, sister, and daughter accompanied her with guitar and vocals. Betty was also helpful in getting others started in their professional music careers.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Ronda Malott and her husband, Terry, of Greenville; her granddaughter, Dionne Mihalus and her husband, Matt, of Dayton, Ohio; great granddaughter, Marin Lou; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, a private graveside service will take place at Greenville Township Memorial Gardens at the convenience of the family.

Ronald C. Rexrode (December 21, 2020)

Ronald C. Rexrode, 77, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 21, 2020. Ron, better known as Bubba to his family, was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. Ron was the son of Beatrice and Tom Withrow, and Mac Rexrode of New Madison Ohio.

Ron was a 1961 graduate of New Madison High School.

Ron married his high school sweetheart, Nancy J. Rexrode (Hangen), on September 15, 1961. They would have celebrated 60 years of marriage with their next wedding anniversary.

He valued family and hard work. Ron worked in multiple industries after high school, followed by owning his own business – Rexrode Pest Control. However, the job he loved the most was with Greenville School Systems as a custodian. His special talent was playing guitar. He played in a dance band for 20+ years. He also enjoyed riding his bicycle around town and following the Tri-Village High School sp
orts teams, especially basketball.

He is survived, loved, and greatly missed by his wife, Nancy; children, Shelly (Kris) Burns, Scott (Rhonda) Rexrode, and Greg Rexrode; grandchildren, Kaleb (Maegan) Rexrode, Kody Burns, Lindsay (Scott) Lawrence, Mattie (Chris) Brewer; great grandchildren, Liam Rexrode, Kaden Burns, Leah, Cassius and Bo Lawrence, Grady, Annie and Hazel Brewer; brothers-in-law, Bill Dinkins and Gary (Rhonda Rae) Hangen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Leah (Rexrode) Dinkins; and mother-in-law, Eileen Hangen.

Visitation for Ron will be held on Monday, December 28, 2020, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Tribute Funeral Homes, 215 E. Washington St., New Madison Ohio, 45346. The funeral service will be held immediately after the visitation at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Greenmound Cemetery.

Family and friends are encouraged to attend as their comfort level allows. Masking will be required for the safety of all in attendance.

Margaret (Walton) Rhoades (December 7, 2020)

Margaret (Walton) Rhoades passed away Monday, December 7, 2020, at The Village Green in Greenville.  She was born January 4, 1932, to Conley and Marie Walton.  She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Richard E. Rhoades. Margaret is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Deborah Rhoades; grandchildren, Amanda Jo, Alyssa Joy and Alphonso James; 3 great grandchildren, Isabel, Isaiah, and Zane Michael; numerous brothers/sisters in-law, nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Coleen.

Margaret was preceded in death by her brother, Douglas Walton; her son, Michael Rhoades; her daughter, Annette Rhoades Durden, 

all whom loved her dearly and will never forget her tenacity, wit, and charm.

Margaret lived a full life as wife, mother and friend.  She worked at NCR in Dayton, The Daily Advocate and Wieland Jewelers in Greenville.  She did not like to cook and was blessed with a husband who knew all the good restaurants within the tri-state area. Margaret loved people and was a member of several organizations; Annie Oakley Camping Club, Treaty Square Dancing Club, Darke County Civic Theater, and shared the Annie Oakley Melodrama Stage. She was quite the actress! Margaret was a member of First United Methodist Church in Greenville. A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at a later date. John F. Jones (December 20, 2020)

John F. Jones age 86, of Greenville passed away at 6:17 PM on Sunday, December 20, 2020, at his residence.

John was born August 21, 1934, in Darke County to the late Raymond & Irene (Matchett) Jones. In addition to his parents, John was also preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Jones; and brothers, Raymond, Howard and Larry Jones.

John is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley Ann (Lehman) Jones whom he married September 19, 1953; children, Sherry & Ken Preston of Florida, Brian & Jane Jones of Greenville, Blaine & Debbie Jones of Greenville, Sally & Stephen Evers of Greenville and Brad & Jean Jones of Laura; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Richard Jones of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

John retired from Teamsters and formerly owned J’s Country Store. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion in New Madison. John will be greatly missed by the love of his life, family and friends.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the nurses at Comprehensive Health Network in Greenville and Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

Dwight E. Brewer (December 17, 2020)

Dwight E. Brewer, 83 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Thursday December 17, 2020 at 2:55 PM at State of The Heart Care Center.  He was born February 17, 1937 in Darke County, Ohio the son of the late Donald & Margret (Gerstner) Brewer.  He was a truck driver, school bus driver, worked at Keller Grain & Feed; and was the caretaker at the Sidney Fairgrounds.

He loved to ride horses and really loved and supported his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his son:  Rick A. Brewer; grandson:  Terry A. Baker Jr.; and his brother:  Duane Brewer.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years LaDonna (Werts) Brewer of Greenville whom he married February 18, 1955; his children & spouses:  Teresa & Rusty Wilson of Union City, Candice & Danny Helm of Greenville, Susan & Tim Pyle of Portland, Indiana, Larissa & Travis Flora of Brookville; grandchildren:  Ryan Brewer & Ashley Smith of Greenville, Dwight (DJ) & Shevon Wilson of Union City, Danielle Wilson & Aaron Griffith of Park, Kansas, Stephanie & John Baumgardner of Greenville, Amber & Shane Hall of Richmond, Indiana, Sara Montgomery of Greenville, Jesse Mills & Melissa Hemple of Montpelior, Ohio, Haley & Erin Foster of Portland, Indiana, Cody & Virginia Pyle of Manchester, N.H., Cory Pyle, Manchester, N.H., Dravon & Astin Pyle of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Rob Castle & Kim Neeley of Greenville, Chelsea & Loy Newton of Union, Ohio, Skylor, Sara, Eli Flora of Brookville, Ohio; several great grandchildren.

Betty Jean (Neitzelt) Henderson (December 20, 2020)

Betty Jean (Neitzelt) Henderson, 93 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Sunday December 20, 2020 at 2:21 AM at Village Green Health Campus, Greenville, Ohio.  She was born on November 15, 1927 in Powhatan Point, Ohio the daughter of the late Howard E. & Bertha M. (Helms) Neitzelt.  

She worked as a Registration Supervisor at Wayne Hospital for 40 plus years retiring in 1989.  She was a very active member of Ansonia United Methodist Church; she loved to travel and loved her family, grandkids, great grandkids and friends and loved spending time with them; she had served on the Darke County Cancer Association Board.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband:  Robert Young Henderson on September 14, 2016 whom she married August 27, 1949; her granddaughter in law:  Jenna Henderson; her brothers & sisters in law:  Harold & Virginia Neitzelt, Robert & Eva Neitzelt, John & Helen Neitzelt; her sisters & brother in law:  Margaret & Marvin Neff, and Kathleen Neitzelt.

She is survived by her sons & daughters in law:  Robert Craig Henderson, Mike & Debbie Henderson, Mark & Cindy Henderson; her grandchildren & spouses:  Janelle Henderson & Jorge Garcia, Alyssa & Michael Jameson, Stacia & Josh Thornton, Ryan & Leah Henderson, Scott Henderson, Joshua & Staci Henderson, Jared & Amanda Henderson, Kirsten & Brady Selhorst, Andrew & Elizabeth Henderson, 20 great grandchildren; sister in law:  Jan Henderson; numerous nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held at Ansonia United Methodist Church with Pastor Roger Emerson officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenville Cemetery.  Arrangements are being handled by Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.  Memorial contributions may be made to Ansonia United Methodist Church, PO Box 457, Ansonia Ohio 45303 or State of The Heart Care. Lisa Louise Tuck (December 18, 2020)

On angel’s wings, Lisa Louise Tuck, 54, of Beverly Hills, Florida, was carried to the arms of Almighty God on Friday, December 18, 2020.

She was born in Dayton, Ohio, on June 17, 1966, to the late William C. and Mary L. (Webster) Tuck.

In addition to her parents, Lisa was preceded in death by her sister, Connie L. Huston.

Lisa was a Darke County resident for the first 21 years of her life. She attended and graduated from Anthony Wayne School in Greenville in 1987. Lisa then moved to Beverly Hills, Florida, where she resided until her passing.

Lisa is survived by her brothers, John J. Tuck of Beverly Hills, Florida; Thomas E. Tuck of Delta, Ohio; and William C. Tuck Jr. of Ocala, Florida.

Lisa will be laid to rest during a graveside service on Monday, December 21, 2020, at 1:00 PM in Greenmound Cemetery in New Madison, Ohio.

The family has entrusted Tribute Funeral Homes, New Madison Campus, with the final arrangements.

David R. Lipps (December 13, 2020)

David R. Lipps, age 69, of Greenville passed away at 11:54 AM on December 13, 2020, at his residence due to complications with covid.  

He was born June 22, 1951 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana, to the late Carl E and Sarah C (Lindsey) Lipps.  In addition to his parents, David was also preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Cheryl (Braun) Lipps, who passed in 2017; brother, Daniel E Lipps of Richmond, Indiana; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

David is survived by son, Daniel B. Lipps, of Greenville; granddaughter, Kaitlynn Lipps; sister, Kay Beth (Lon) Swihart of Lewisburg; brothers in law, Robert (Susan) Braun of Columbus, Doug Braun of Columbus; sister in law, Jodi (Jake) York of Greenville; nieces and nephews, Christina (Chad) Loveless, Janet (Brad) Ott, Mary (Kevin) Henry, Carol (Dustin) Barnes, David Meade, Terry Meade, Angel (Jeremy) Boone, Christy Jones, Nick Braun, Dustin (Shawna) York, Ashley Konz, Donovan York; and numerous great nieces and nephews. 

He went to Jefferson School in New Paris and was a 1969 graduate of National Trail High School.  He graduated from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio in 1973.  He was a manager at Godfather's Pizza in the 1980s and worked at Tri-Mark/ ITW Hobart Brothers from 1996 until retirement in December of 2017.  He enjoyed playing softball, Reds, OSU, Bengals and serving in AWANA at church. 

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, December 28, 2020, at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville with Pastor Sean Martin officiating.  Burial will follow in Twin Creek Cemetery in West Manchester, Ohio. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 PM and Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the funeral home.  All memorial contributions can be made to Pleasant View Missionary Church Children's Ministries. Norman Fredrick Bauer (December 18, 2020)

Norman Fredrick Bauer, age 88 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 7:30 PM Friday December 18, 2020 at his residence.  Norm was born November 15, 1932 in Elyria, Ohio and the son of the late Fred and Grace (Nyarges) Bauer.

He had been a dairy farmer for 25 years and later was self-employed representing I.B.A. selling dairy supplies to local dairy farmers followed by employment with CSS assisting with special needs adults.

Norm was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Greenville, the Knights of Columbus, SERS and as a hobby loved woodworking.

Norm is survived by his wife Sue B. (Colahan) Bauer of Greenville.  They were married October 1, 1971.  Also children Christine Bauer  of Huron, Ohio, Laura Bauer of Milan, Ohio, Barbara Bauer of California and Eric (Peggy) Bauer of Norwalk, Ohio; step children Dana Moyer of Texas, Jill (Steve) Brewer of Troy, Patricia (Tim) Hruska of WI. and Kelly (David) Bakke of WI.; 8 grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and step great grandchildren, sister Carole Wilson of Bowling Green, Ohio as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday December 22, 2020 in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church 233 West Third Street Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Father David Doseck as celebrant.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Monday December 21, 2020 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio.  The Knights of Columbus will be reciting the Rosary on Monday at 6:45 PM in the funeral home.

Walter Roy Haines Jr. (December 17, 2020)

Walter Roy Haines Jr., age 99 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 11:10 PM Thursday December 17, 2020 at the State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in Greenville.  Roy was born May 21, 1921 in Wilkinsburg, PA. and the son of the late Walter Roy and Lillian Marie (Wylie) Haines. 

He retired in 1983 from J.C. Penney Company as Store Manager of the Greenville store.  He had been employed with the company for 34 years.

Roy was a veteran of WW II serving in the United States Army Air Corps.  He was stationed in England, North Africa and Italy and honorably discharges in 1945 as a Staff Sergeant. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greenville, a 51 year member of the Greenville Kiwanis Club, 70 plus year member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite-Valley of Dayton and the Antioch Shrine of Dayton, a 1949 graduate of Miami University of Oxford with a Bachelor’s degree and one of the founding members of the “Geezer’s golf group at Turtle Creek Golf Course. He enjoyed spending time with his family, photography, writing the “Kiyak” for the Kiwanis Club, playing golf and telling stories.  He was the king of puns.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Jean Haines Stone.

Roy is survived by his wife Patricia (Wilson) Haines of Greenville.  They were married August 5, 1950 in Baldwin, New York.   Also children Richard (Diane) Haines, Tracy Haines and Robert Haines; grandchildren Justin (Sarah) Haines, Caitlin (Kirk) Shellhouse and Molly (Heath) Miller; great grandchildren Claire Haines and Lillian Haines as well as 2 nephews.

A Memorial Services will be scheduled at a later date.

Roy was loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed!
