Gary Lee Weaver (January 7, 2021)

Gary Lee Weaver, 73, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Greenville Health and Rehab.

He was born on May 30, 1947, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Albert and June (McKinney) Weaver.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his brother, Dale Weaver.

Gary was a simple man. He loved his family and especially enjoyed being with his grandsons.  It was not uncommon to find Gary outdoors and enjoying nature’s beauties. He even learned how to pan for gold. Gary was an over-the-road truck driver for ABF for over 20 years. Before driving, he spent a few years as a Darke County Sheriff’s Deputy.

Gary is survived by his sons, Victor (Angela) Weaver of Arcanum, Ohio, and Vincent (Paula) Weaver of Clifton Park, New York; his grandchildren, Jonathan (Amanda) Stewart, and Benjamin Weaver; and his great grandchildren, Lily, Damien, and Vance Stewart.

There will be no services for Gary at this time.

The family has entrusted Tribute Funeral Homes with the final arrangements.

Tony L. Harbison (December 31, 2020)

Tony L. Harbison, 66, of Lucasville, Ohio, formerly of Union City, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at Edgewood Manor in Lucasville.

He was born on July 27, 1954, in Greenville, Ohio, to the late Roger and Louise (Minnich) Harbison.

Tony served his country in the U.S. Army. In his younger years, Tony taught himself how to play the guitar. He also taught his friend Randy how to play bass guitar and they started a band and played at their local church, the Garden Park Church of Christ in Toledo, Ohio. In 1975 Tony was in an auto accident and sustained severe brain damage from which he never recovered.

Tony is survived by his brothers, Leon Harbison and his wife, Barbara, of Pasadena, Texas, and Allen Harbison of Stow, Ohio; his nieces and nephews, Corey Harbison and his wife, Carly, of Miamisburg, Ohio, and Wyatt Harbison of Huber Heights, Ohio.

Tony will be laid to rest during a private graveside service on Friday, January 8, 2020, at the Brock Cemetery.

The family has entrusted Tribute Funeral Homes with the final arrangements.

Helen R. Anthony (January 1, 2021)

Helen R. Anthony, 69, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 1, 2021, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

She was born on September 5, 1951, in Greenville, Ohio, to Phyllis (Royer) Arnett and the late Leonard Arnett.

In addition to her father, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Steve C. “Pee Wee” Anthony.

Helen was a 1970 graduate of Gettysburg High School. She spent many years working for Neff Lettering in Greenville. Helen loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She loved everyone and everyone loved her. Helen was an avid Cleveland Browns fan and liked to go fishing. She liked to play euchre and Yahtzee. Helen was an active member within the flat track racing community, where she was formerly a AMA National Scorer. She loved going to the track and helping her boys.

In addition to her mother, Helen is survived by sons, Rob Anthony and Chad Anthony, both of Greenville; her grandchildren, Kelsy Anthony, Brooklynn (Ryan) Holderman, Carlee Anthony, Ashley (Lee) Kozak, Alex Rehmert, and Austin Anthony; her great grandchildren, Savannah, Lucas, Noah, Haylee, Sophie, Caliah, Olivia, Chloe, Jordan, and Lilli; and her siblings, Gary (Edie) Arnett, Connie. (Jerry) York, and Kathy (Bill) Brown.

A causal reception for family and friends celebrating Helen’s life will take place from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Friday, January 15, 2021, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus. Burial will follow in Abbottsville Cemetery.

Rita Joan Young (January 4, 2021)

Rita Joan Young, 83, of Rossburg, Ohio, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021, at her home.

She was born on June 13, 1937, in Rossburg, Ohio, to the late Lowell and Dortha (Hathaway) McEowen.

In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her son, Ron Kaffenberger; her brothers, Robert McEowen, Ralph (June) McEowen, her great-grandchildren, Audrianna Rene Kaffenberger, and Kalla Lilly Kaffenberger; her mother and father-in-law, Clarence and Hazel Young; her brothers-in-law, Charles, Donald, Raymond, James, Paul, John, Lonnie, and Robert Young, and Leslie McKinley; her sisters-in-law, Mable Young, Anna McKinley, and Jackie Brown; and her precious dog, Half-Pint.

Rita worked for Corning Glass in Greenville for 7 years as a glass packer until she left to become a homemaker and tend to her family. She cherished her family and enjoyed spending time with them especially with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rita loved to go shopping and capture the ultimate bargain at Goodwill or at many local garage sales. In her free time, she enjoyed playing the piano and bring joy to others.

Rita is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ronald Gene Young; her children, Robert Kaffenberger, Jr., Jack (Becky Marshall) Kaffenberger, Sr., Michael Kaffenberger, Sr., Steven (Tammy) Kaffenberger, and Lora (Perry) Widener; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Josh) Thacker, Nicole (Eric) Perkins, Jack Kaffenberger, Jr., Tracy Marshall, Eric Marshall, Michael (Kyra) Kaffenberger, Jr., Ashley (Wes) Givens, Steven Kaffenberger, Jeffrey (Ashley Akers) Kaffenberger, Brandon (Morgan) Kaffenberger; Jodi (Robert) Konar, Jessica (Bruce Garwood) McCann, and Cody (Raven) Widener; and her daughter-in-law, Dawn Kaffenberger.

Rita is also survived by her great grandchildren, Jared, Joslyn and Jace Thacker, Rylie Perkins, Kadyn Edwards, Riley Kaffenberger, Brooklyn Brayden and Reid Kaffenberger, Madison and Kayden McAllister, Cassey Givens, Brooklyn, Parker, and Katie Kaffenberger, Kam and Ayley Kaffenberger, Oakleigh and River Kaffenberger, Emilie and Hannah Greene, Kaisley McCann, Brayden, Corbin, Toby and Kyler Widener; her brother, Roger McEowen; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Mary Kathern McEowen, William (Barbara) Young, Walter (Betty) Young, Sam (Barbara) Grice, Scott (Jessica) Young, Mary Young, Karen Young, Shirley Young, and Nancy Young.

She will be missed by her special friends, Wilma Young Flack, Barbara Zacharias, Rand and Sonya Lauterbach, Karissa Lauterbach, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Turner, and her very special dog Peanut, who was the apple of Rita’s eye.

A celebration of Rita’s life will take place at 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus with Pastor George Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Brock Cemetery.

Guests may visit with Rita’s family on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service at noon at the funeral home.

Esther Eiting (January 3, 2021)

Esther Eiting, age 83, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, January 3, 2021. Esther was born December 24, 1937, to the late Henry and Hilda (Schwieterman) Stucke of Cranberry Prairie, Ohio. Esther is survived by her husband James A. Eiting of Versailles, Ohio, and her children Anne (Eiting) and Robert Klamar of Versailles, Ohio, Polly (Eiting) and Timothy Grow of Minster, Ohio, Mitch and Ann (Gusching) Eiting of Versailles, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her son, Joshua Eiting and daughter-in-law, Shirley (Roll) Eiting; her brothers Robert, Gerald, Thomas and Ronald Stucke; in-laws Carl and Genevieve (Ernst) Eiting, Frank and Janice (Eiting) Brinkman and Jude (Eiting) Schmieder. Also surviving are her grandchildren Jacob and Sarah Eiting, Allison and Chance Cox, Chris Klamar, Carl Klamar, Samuel Eiting, Elizabeth Eiting and great grandchildren Louisa Cox and Esther Eiting; sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl (Stucke) and Bill Braun of Anna, Ohio; her sister-in-laws, Karen Stucke of St. Henry, Ohio, Connie Stucke of Greenville, Ohio, Rebecca Stucke of St. Henry, Ohio; Jack and Marie Eiting of Portland, Oregon, and Luke Schmieder of Arvada, Colorado.

Esther was born at home on Christmas Eve Day. Her family’s farm, Stucke Farms Inc, was known for their potatoes and people came from all over the region to purchase potatoes at their farm. Her favorite childhood memories were playing with the neighbor kids, the Roses, and going out to western Kansas to visit her Schwieterman relatives. The work ethic and memories of the farm and Cranberry Prairie never left her.

Esther married Jim Eiting on January 26, 1957, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Cranberry Prairie. Along with raising four children, she was a remarkable hostess, ensuring her home was always warm and inviting whether it be for business, family or friends. Esther supported the arts and many charitable organizations in her communities, including the Versailles Garden Club and Catholic Social Services. She had impeccable style—leaving behind a legacy of elegance, grace and perfect flower beds. Esther’s hobbies included gardening, interior design, travel, reading, playing Bridge with her friends and bargain shopping.

Esther was a loving and kind person who helped others when she saw a need. She had a great sense of humor, liked to laugh and enjoy a glass of Scotch in the evening. Her greatest gift and joy in life was her family. She will be missed by many but especially by her children and grandchildren who lovingly called her “GaGa.”

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. Jim Simons celebrant. Sondra J. “Sandy” Spangler (January 3, 2021)

Sondra J. “Sandy” Spangler age 81, of Versailles passed away at 2:42 PM on Sunday, January 3, 2021, at her residence.

Sandy was born August 14, 1939, in Sidney to the late Wilbur & Bertha (Abbott) Ellis. In addition to her parents, Sandy was also preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Spangler; sisters, Virginia Pequignot and Dorothy Henson; and a brother in infancy.

Sandy is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Christopher “Jim” & Karen Spangler of Springboro; and grandchildren, Alex, Sophia and Jason Spangler.

Sandy attended Wright State University, a graduate of the Ohio School of Banking, The School of Bank Marketing, Boulder, Colorado (with honors), a published author of the Ohio Banker’s Magazine, and a recipient of the Ohio Banker’s Marketing Award. Her financial career spanned 30 years, at 1st National Bank, Versailles, Peoples National, 1st National, Troy and Star Banc Corporation, Cincinnati, Ohio, now U.S.B. Corporation. Her last position before retiring was Corporate V.P., Performance Consultant. Sandy enjoyed golfing and researching genealogy.

Rosanna M. Kohli (December 31, 2020)

Rosanna M. Kohli, 93, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at Brookdale of Greenville.

She was born on January 30, 1927, in Berne, Indiana, to the late Harry and Frieda (Neuhauser) Sprunger.

In addition to her parents, Rosanna was preceded in death by her husband, Hiram Kohli; her sisters, Florita Basinger and Grace Eloranta; and her brother, Meredith Sprunger.

Rosanna had three true loves: her faith, her family, and people in general. She loved life and loved to laugh, especially with those around her. She and her husband, Hiram, spent many years volunteering at the Brethren Retirement Community. In her free time, Rosanna enjoyed gardening and golfing. She was a member of the First Mennonite Church in Berne until she moved to Greenville where she attended the Christian Missionary Alliance.

Rosanna is survived by her children, David Kohli and his wife, Jean, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Kreg Kohli and his wife, Barbara, of Greenville; her grandchildren, Marc Kohli and his wife, Lisa, of San Francisco, California, Cheryl Ealing and her husband, Phil, of Fort Wayne, Zach Kohli and his wife, Lauren, of New Paris, Ohio, and Josh Kohli and his wife, Veronica, of Morrison, Colorado; her great grandchildren, Anna, Samantha, Aubrey, and William; and her sister, Beverly Neuenschwander of San Francisco.

A private graveside service for Rosanna will take place in Greenville Union Cemetery.

Jean B. Hawkey (January 1, 2021)

Jean B. Hawkey, 90, of Arcanum, Ohio, passed away during the early hours of Friday, January 1, 2021, at the Oakley Place in Greenville from complications of COVID-19.

She was born on May 18, 1930, in Darke County, Ohio, to the late Charles “Roscoe” and Lucy (Shade) Bryson.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her sisters, Esther Mae Hamilton, Mary Catherine Campbell, and Gertrude Eileen Bryson.

Jean was a lifelong resident of Darke County. She graduated from Arcanum High School in 1948. She was a farm wife and also worked for Arcanum Federal Savings for over 25 years as a loan officer. She and her husband, Dale, were members of the Grace United Methodist Church in Ithaca for many years.

Jean loved her family and tending to them. She was known for her family gatherings and famous Easter Egg Hunts. She loved traveling. They would travel all over the United States and even made it to Hawaii. It was not uncommon for them to travel to Amish country and out to Branson, Missouri. Jean enjoyed Bluegrass music and going to outdoor dramas.

Jean is survived by her husband of 71 years, Dale Dean Hawkey; her children, Jill Fisher and her husband, Wayne, of Greenville, and Jerry Hawkey and his wife, JoAnn, of Greenville; her grandchildren, Isaac Fisher and his fiancé, Sarah Logan, of Fort Bragg California, Levi Fisher of Dayton, Kentucky, Ivy Cheeseman and her husband, Nathaniel, of Chiang Mai, Thailand, Mike Hawkey and his wife, Asazalia, of Palestine, Ohio, and Adrienne Sharp of Winterville, North Carolina; her 9 great grandchildren; and her brother, Robert Bryson of Arcanum.

A private celebration of Jean’s life will take place on Thursday, January 7, 2021, with Pastor Marla Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Ithaca Cemetery.

A public memorial service is being planned for a future date.

Hazel Naomi (Anthony) Harless (January 3, 2021)

Hazel Naomi (Anthony) Harless, 94, passed away in Greenville, Ohio on January 3, 2021.  Born April 13, 1926 in Darke County she was the sixth child of Earl and Olive Anthony.  Hazel was preceded in death by her beloved husband Thomas M. Harless, her parents and her older brothers and sisters and in-laws, Reva Zimmers, Lowell Anthony, Evelyn Zimmers, Norman Anthony, Carl Anthony, and Mary Florence Strukamp. 

As a youth, Hazel attended Midnight Elementary School on Folkreth Road then graduated from Greenville High School in 1944.  She attended Cadet Nurses Training at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton Ohio and graduated as an RN in May 1947.  She married Tom at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenville on July 12, 1947.  The couple had six children.

The family settled in Greenville until 1967 when they relocated to Dayton, Ohio. In October of 1977 when the children were grown, Tom and Hazel moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In 1992, they moved up the coast to Satellite Beach, Florida, where they remained until a final move back to Greenville to live in the Brethren's Retirement Community in November of 2012.

Hazel not only had a long career as an RN but also earned her Teachers Certificate from Wright State University in 1964 and taught elementary school at St. Mary's School in Greenville and at St. Agnes School in Dayton.  She then went into hospital administration, which she continued until retirement in 1991.  At that time, Hazel took up painting and writing and produced dozens of canvases and four novels.  Hazel also had a beautiful singing voice and played the piano.  She and Tom loved to dance, entertain friends, and travel.   

Hazel is survived by daughter Susan Halley (Richard) of Greenville, son John Harless of Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, son James Harless (Edna Higgins) of Dayton Ohio, daughter Barbara Gotshall (Robert) of Fort Collins, Colorado, daughter Rebecca Rosen (Clifford) of Freeport, Maine, and daughter Sharon Harless of Fort Collins, Colorado.  Hazel is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and her dear brother Delbert Anthony.  

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM Tuesday January 12, 2021 in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church 233 West Third Street Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Father David Doseck as celebrant.  The Mass will be Live Streamed on St. Mary’s Catholic Church Facebook Page.    Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday January 12, 2021 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio.

Edward Douglas Baker Jr. (January 2, 2021)

Edward Douglas Baker Jr., age 75 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 8:30 AM Saturday January 2, 2021 at his residence.  Ed was born July 12, 1945 in Breathitt County, Kentucky and the son of the late Rev. Edward D. and Addie (Turner) Baker Sr.

He was retired from Brinks Security.

Ed loved playing the guitar and singing as well as fishing and getting together with his family.

In addition to his parents Ed was preceded in death by brothers Carl Baker, Clarence Baker and  Charles Baker; sisters Wanda, Fannie Mae, Margie and Anna Ruth.

Ed is survived by his wife Cheryl (Garrett) Baker of Greenville.  They were married May 29, 1988.  Also children Troy Baker of Trotwood, Edward D. Baker III of Columbus, Ohio, Bobby Jewel of Dayton, Jason Perdue of Greenville, Jennette Westfall of Greenville and Jessica Foureman of Greenville; 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, sister Lucy Rink of Miamisburg, brother Ralph Baker of Florida as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be announced at a later date.

Dwight Earl Marker (December 29, 2020)

Dwight Earl Marker, 59 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Tuesday December 29, 2020 at 2:19 PM at Kettering Hospital.  He was born December 26, 1961 in Greenville, Ohio the son of the late Harley & Clara (Vannoy) Marker.  He worked at Precision Concrete and Steven Lumber Company.  

He loved watching Tractor Pulls, Car races and football.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers:  Rodney, Gilbert, David, Terry, Donnie Marker; sister:  George Ann Vannoy.  

He is survived by his sisters:  Cindy Marker of Greenville and Julie Oswalt of Covington.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday January 2, 2020 at 3:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, with Pastor Sean Martin officiating.  The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.   Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help offset funeral expenses.

Leroy C. Wellman, 91 Greenville, Ohio passed away on Saturday January 2, 2021 at 2:16 PM at his residence.  He was born April 16, 1929 in Bryant, Indiana, the son of the late Jerome & Agnes (Krieg) Wellman.  He was an Operating Engineer.

He was a member of St, Mary’s Catholic Church; Knights of Columbus, Greenville, Ohio; a 60 year member of the Operating Engineers Union.  

He is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter:  Dian Bryson; his sisters:  Rita Heiman, Martha Dodd, Helen Wellman, & Edna Hoying; his brothers:  Alfred, Jerome, Carl, Jim, Urban, Arther, Richard, Paul, & Francis Wellman.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Elma Jean (Sundman) Wellman of Greenville whom he married April 18, 1959; his children & spouses:  John & Debora Wellman of Columbus, Ohio, Joyce & Tod Clark of Greenville, Robert Wellman of Cincinnati, Joseph & Penny Wellman of Greenville; son in law:  Neil Bryson of Greenville; grandchildren:  Benjamin & Rebekah Bryson, Lindsey & Andrew Cizmar, Seth Bryson, Zachary & Ian Wellman, Jacob Clark; great grandchildren:  Adalynn & Leviticus Bryson, Clara & Amelia Cizmar; his sister:  Doris Wack of Tucson, Arizona; his brother:  Eugene & Peg Wellman of Fishers, Indiana; numerous nieces & nephews.

Madeline I. Price (December 30, 2020)

Madeline I. Price, 94, of West Alexandria, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at SKLD Nursing Home in New Lebanon, Ohio.

She was born September 25, 1926, in Plymouth, Michigan, to the late James and Madeline DeShayes.

In addition to her parents, Madeline was preceded in death by her husband, Frank A. Price, Jr.; her son, Steve R. Price; her granddaughter, Angela Price; her sisters, Helen, Dorothy, Eileen, Jean, Bernice, Joan, Carolyn, and Pat; her brothers, Casey, Jack, Eddie, and J.R.

Madeline worked for Twin Valley South School’s kitchen staff with 28 years of service. She enjoyed creating ceramics and her art pieces were displayed at the Twin Valley South School’s display cases during holidays.

Madeline is survived by her sons, Michael Price and his wife, Debbie, of West Alexandria, and Frank Price and his wife, Linda, of Bellbrook, Ohio; her daughter-in-law, Andra Price of Dayton; her grandchildren, Tony (Geneva) Price, Nicki Price, Natalie (Ben) Welch, Amanda Price, Stephanie (Joe) Cantrell, and Maury Reynolds; her great grandchildren, Emma, Josie, and Amelia Price, Claire and Connor Welch, Jordan, Taylor, and C.J. Eugene R. “Coach” Cullers (December 30th, 2020)

December 30th, 2020 saw the passing of Eugene R. “Coach” Cullers

Born on May 1st, 1932, in Eaton, Ohio, Eugene’s career highlights include:

• 60 years of marriage to his beloved wife Katherine Lefler Cullers
• 5 Loving Children – Kelly, Marc, Colleen, Matthew, and Elizabeth
• 14 adoring grandchildren, and 5 of the greatest great grand children
• Countless happy memories, and one beautiful life story

He was a father who raised his family by being an example of love and selflessness, and demonstrated these qualities every day of his life. 

Before embarking on his career as an educator and coach at Gratis he proudly served in the US army in Europe.  

He was an educator, who dedicated himself to impacting the lives of his students and staff for over 30 years. 

His coaching career included basketball, baseball, wrestling, track, and wherever he could make an impact. As a coach, he taught not only the fundamentals of sport but more importantly the fundamentals of life to his athletes, for over three generations. 

Coach would tell you he was the luckiest man in the world, never hesitating to give all credit to God. He was a man willing to share his time, his talents, his energy, his faith and his wisdom.

In lieu of flowers – Remember him by reaching out; Perform an act of kindness, make a charitable donation, champion an underdog, encourage someone who is struggling. And if you have the opportunity, tell them you were inspired by “Coach Cullers”

“And in this way, there will never come an end to the good that he has done.”

Due to the current situation with Covid, the family will be holding a Celebration of Life event in the Spring.

Jean "Jeanie" S. Crowell (December 31, 2020)

Jean "Jeanie" S. Crowell, 73, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away in the early hours of Thursday, December 31, 2020, at her home.

She was born on June 30, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Dallas Betz and Sylvia (Scott) Malcom.

Above all, Jean loved her family and cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren. When she was not spoiling her family, Jean enjoyed spending time with her friends at Stillwater Beach Campground. Jean was hard working and spent over 35 years working for Honeywell/Fram, until her retirement in 2010. She was a member of the Greenville VFW and the Versailles Eagles.

Jean is survived by her children, Doug Gray and his wife, Erin, of Winchester, Indiana, Donna Hall and her husband, Don, of South Bend, Indiana, and Kim Sink and her husband, Kevin, of Arcanum, Ohio; her grandchildren, Celeste Leeper and her husband, Bobby, of Ansonia, Ohio, Christopher Starns of Greenville, Josh Baumann and his wife, Cydney, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Kaleb Gray and Katlyn Gray, both of Winchester; her great grandchildren, Bailee and Hayden Pretsman, Kennedy and Briar Leeper, and Bennett Baumann; and her siblings, Cindy Malcom and Jim Malcom, both of Golconda, Illinois.

Per Jean’s wishes, there will be no services.

Donna Jeanne Christian (December 29, 2020)

Donna Jeanne Christian, age 74 of Greenville, Ohio and formerly of Arcanum passed away at 10:31 PM Tuesday December 29, 2020 at the Sycamore Hospital in Miamisburg.  Donna was born November 19, 1946 in Greenville and the daughter of the late Herbert Francis and Mary (Ulsh) Byers.

Donna was an avid reader of romance novels and mysteries.  Nora Roberts and JD Robb topped her list.  She loved her horse racing as well, you could find her at Keeneland betting on her favorites.  She had her lifelong crush on Kenny Rogers.  Just ask the Coward of the County.  If you could not find her in her garden, she may be taking a break sipping her favorite beverage, Peach Schnapps.  Her hobbies were crossword puzzles, candy crush and crocheting.    However more than any of her passions, it was the love she had for her kids and grandkids that defined who she was.  Fly high Mom, you will be missed.

She was a homemaker, worked as a self-employed bridal consultant and 20 years of employment at the Walmart Store in Greenville.  She was a 1965 graduate of Gettysburg High School and spent 2 years of study at Julies Gibson Career College. 

Donna is survived by her children Tracy Christian of Groveport, Ohio, Kelly Christian of Miamisburg, Ohio and Tim Christian of Vandalia, Ohio; grandchildren Heather Harff (Ross Sutton), Chelsie Harff, Jenna Christian and Taylor Christian; great grandchildren Jackson Walker Seymour and Phoenix Rose Mercury Sutton;  Brother Merrill Byers of Greenville as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday January 6, 2021 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Rick Gutheil officiating.  Burial will follow in the Abbottsville Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.

Douglas Ray Weider (December 31, 2020)

Douglas Ray Weider, age 73 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 7:04 AM Thursday December 31, 2020 at his residence.  Doug was born August 15, 1947 in Darke County, Ohio and the son of the late Paul P. and Betty H. (Jay) Weider.

Doug retired in 2006 from the US Post Office where he had been employed for 38 years as a Postal Clerk.  He was a veteran serving in the US Army from 1966 until 1968.  Also a member of the Greenville Missionary Church, the Greenville V.F.W. and Moose Lodge.  He enjoyed bowling, square dancing, playing euchre and years ago had coached the softball team for his daughter Rae Lynn.  Doug was a 1965 graduate of Greenville High School and had been involved in the Big Brothers and Big Sisters program.

In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his brother Rev. Gregory Errgong Weider May 2020.

Doug is survived by his wife of 50 years Marilyn Kay (Birt) Weider of Greenville.  They were married October 3, 1970.  Also his daughter Rae Lynn Burns of Greenville; granddaughters Hayley Burns and Paige Burns; great granddaughter Kali Rae Callihan,  sister Marilyn Buckloh of Medina, Ohio as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Private Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Gary Oser officiating.  Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.  The Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will conduct Full Military Honors at the funeral home.

Robert H. DeMange (December 29, 2020)

Robert H. DeMange age 87, of Versailles passed away at 10:15 PM on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

Robert was born October 8, 1933, in Darke County to the late Alfred & Ursula (Barga) DeMange. In addition to his parents, Robert was also preceded in death by his brothers & sisters-in-law, Paul & Helen DeMange, Earl DeMange, Francis & Betty DeMange and Homer DeMange; sisters & brothers-in-law, Marie & Ed Vagedes, Rose Mary & Herbert Tobe, Ruth & Otto Tobe and Betty DeMange; brother-in-law, Elmer Link; and in-laws, Ernest Buening, Urban & Rita Buening, Ramon & Norma Buening, Albert Buening, Gregor & Helen Buening, Paul Buening, Louis Buening and Clarence Buening.

Robert is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary F. (Buening) DeMange whom he married May 2, 1959; sons & daughter-in-law, Gerald & Mary Jo DeMange of Greenville, Donald DeMange of Ansonia and Steven DeMange of Greenville; daughters & sons-in-law, Kathleen & Jeff Kesting of Centerville and Carolyn & Richard Rose of Versailles; grandchildren, Kari, Ryan, Courtney, Jarrod and 2 step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and 3 step-great grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Link of Coldwater; in-laws, Alvina DeMange of Piqua, Alice DeMange of Versailles, Marita & Tony Grilliot of Celina, Dorothy Buening of Coldwater and Juanita Buening of St. Henry; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert retired from Monarch Machine & Tool in Sidney and worked at Artisan Grinding in Dayton. He also farmed. Robert graduated from Versailles High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Navy after the Korean War. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Frenchtown.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Frenchtown with Rev. Fr. Jim Duell celebrant. Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Versailles Veteran’s Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Cemetery Fund or the Ansonia Rescue. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles. Joe Eldon Mangas (December 29, 2020)

Joe Eldon Mangas, 82 of Greenville, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Tuesday December 29, 2020 at 2:05 AM at Wayne Healthcare.  He was born July 2, 1938 in Randolph County, Indiana, the son of the late James & Esther (Hufford) Mangas.  He worked as a meat cutter for 45 years for Marsh Grocery Stores; after retirement he joined the Over The Hill Gang Construction Crew.

He enjoyed his time with is grandkids giving them tractor rides, going to truck races at Eldora Speedway and horse races, He loved going to church and doing woodworking.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his grandson:  Sean Eric Mangas; his sister:  June (Mangas) Hathaway.

He is survived by his wife:  Joyce (Good) Mangas of Greenville; his daughter & son in law:  Dena (Mangas) & Dwight Wulber of Versailles; his son & daughter in law:  Joel Eric & Donna Mangas of Louisville, Kentucky; his step sons:  Chad Crawford of Lafollette, Tennessee, Todd Crawford of Dayton, Ohio; his grandchildren:  Brittany, Justin, Jayden, Gianna, & Jason Mangas all of Louisville, Kentucky; his 1 niece and 1 nephew.

Private services will be held at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Gary Oser officiating.  Burial will follow in Otterbein Cemetery.  There will be no visitation.  Memorial contributions may be made to Shine on Corynna.

Harold L. Alley (December 28, 2020)

Harold L. Alley, age 91 of Arcanum, Ohio passed away at 10:20 AM Monday December 28, 2020 at the Gardens of Celina.  Harold was born May 18, 1929 in Preble County, Ohio and the son of the late Stuart and Annetta (Cupp) Alley.

He was retired from Century Electric of Gettysburg were he had been employed as a machinist and had attended the Calvary Bible Church of Painter Creek.  Harold was an avid gardener, woodworker competing in the Toy contest at the Ansonia Lumber Yard, avid reader and worked with the Habitat for Humanity organization. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn June (Fields) Alley October 31, 2020.   Also a daughter Melanie Alley; Brother Howard Alley and sisters Elizabeth Cox, Ruby Resor, Mary Shuttleworth-Kauffman, Verna Reck, Reba Lindamood and Catherine Thompson.

Harold is survived by son and daughter-in-law Tim (Lora) Alley of Celina; grandchildren Melanie (Dustin) Helman and Jonathan Alley; great grandchildren Aurora Helman and Hunter Helman as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday January 4, 2021 in the Gettysburg Cemetery Gettysburg, Ohio with Pastor Bill Cornett officiating. It is requested that everyone wear facemasks at the graveside service.
