Patricia K. Stump, 57, of Arcanum, died Tuesday evening, March 15, 2011 at her residence. Mrs. Stump was born in Greenville on August 29, 1953, the daughter of the late Donovan and Ruth (Bonsel) Sharp. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Ithaca. Patricia was a member of Women of the Church, Relay for Life, Strides, and Cancer Walks. She was a 16 year employee at GLT Inc., Dayton. Patricia was the wife of Michael Stump whom she married November 18, 1972. Also surviving are two children Stephanie Lawrence and husband Derrick of Reynoldsburg and John Stump and wife Svetlana of Huber Heights; and a granddaughter Evelinne Stump. The family will receive relatives and friends Saturday Noon - 2 PM on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Memorial Services will be held 2:00 PM with Pastor Joene Herr officiating. Burial will follow in Ithaca Cemetery. Mrs. Thelma I. Shives, age 104 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on Sunday March 13, 2011 at 12:50 PM at her residence. She was born March 8, 1907 in Darke County, Ohio the daughter of the late Sherman W. & Gertrude (Cashman) Baird. She was the owner\operator of Thelma’s Beauty Shop.
She was a member of First Congregational Christian Church, Grandmothers Club, a 1925 graduate of Greenville High School, a volunteer at Wayne Hospital, & she was an avid gardener and loved flowers.

He was born February 19, 1929 in Darke County, Ohio, son of the late Carl and Treva (Riegle) Derr. In addition to his parents, Rodney was preceded in death by his 1st wife Maxine Derr, brothers, Roscoe Derr, Lloyd Derr, a sister, Gaynell (Derr) Steele; and nieces, Patty Lou Gerstner and Peggy George.
A veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean Conflict, Rodney was retired from the former Sheller- Globe in Union City where he had worked as a tool and die maker. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Union City, IN, and was a graduate of Eastside High School in Union City, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Wanda (Wright) Fultz-Derr, whom he married October 12, 1996; daughters, Cheryl (Michael) Warrell of Ansonia, Cindy (Dave) Davis of Union City, IN; grandchildren, Angie (Garth) Knick, Jason Leedom, Sarah (Matt) Hines, Christina (Sergio) Meranda, David A. Davis: great grandchildren, Casey Knick, Kylie Knick, Kaylee Leedom, Kayled Leedom, Nikolai Leedom, Selena Davis, Dylan Davis, Makayla Davis, Lucas Davis; and nieces and nephews, Becky (David) George, Patty (Joe) Jackson, Nancy Camacho, Dick George, and Tom (Gina) Derr.

Ralph E. "Gene" Bixler, 85, of Greenville, passed away late Friday evening March 4, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.

Gene had worked at Mengel's in Union City, IN, farmed, was a greeter at Walmart in Winchester, IN and had retired from Wayne Detling Farms. He was a member of the Teegarden Congregational Christian Church near Ansonia.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Donna (Fellers) Bixler,whom he marrried December 27, 1955; sons, William (Antonia) Bixler of Greenville, Mark A. John formerly worked at Union City Body Company in Union City for 13 ½ years and Fenton's Shoe Shop in Greenville for 30 years. John served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. John was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenville; lifelong member of the Greenville American Legion for 60 years; Disabled American Veterans where he was Past Commander; and the Knights of Columbus.
In addition to his parents, John is also preceded in death by his brothers, Richard, Dwight and Charles Henry; and a sister, Catherine Henry.
John is survived by his wife, Thelma V. Martha Emily Labig, 89 of 419 Avenue B Greenville, Ohio, passed away on 9:10 AM the morning of March 3, 2011, after one night at Heartland of Greenville.
She was born July 4, 1921, in Greenville, Ohio the daughter of the late Elmer and Ida (Johnson) Mong, her beloved grandparents were Edward L. and Cora (Morrow) Mong. She was preceded in death by her sister, JoAnne.
Survivors include her devoted husband, Chalmer E. Labig, whom she married June 9, 1941, after almost 70 years of wedded bliss; the lights of her life her two sons, Dr. Chalmer E. Labig Jr. and Dr. Charles Edward Labig, both of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her three precious grandchildren: Andrew, Michael, and Emily Ann Labig, sisters: Mary K. Harland of Las Vegas, Nevada; Margaret (Peggy) Wogoman of Clearwater, Florida; and Charlotte Von Hoene of Warrenville, Illinois; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the Fort Greeneville Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, Fort Black Chapter # 336 Order of the Eastern Star, Past Worthy Matron of Fort Greenville Chapter # 406 Order of the Eastern Star, VFW 7262 Auxiliary, She was a member of the Pioneer Family, The Darke County Genealogical Society, she was a fifth generation lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church where she had served as a Sunday School Teacher and Chairman of the Education Commission, as well as a Cub Scout Den Mother for # 134. She was very active in the United Methodist Women. She was a former member of the Emersonian Literary Club.
She loved raising flowers and traveling- having gone to almost all U.S. States, Canadian Provinces, and such countries as Malaysia, Singapore, Bali, Thailand, and most European countries. As she traveled world wide she enjoyed collecting cup and saucers from each country she visited and we counted a total of 33.
A winter resident of Florida for 24 years. She was an affiliate member of Cypress Lake United Methodist Church, an officer in Methodist Women. Also a member of Tab’itha Temple # 135 FLA, Daughters of the Nile, Fort Myers, Florida; Jamaica Bay Tennis Club, and several Bridge Clubs. She enjoyed her lifestyle.

Brown, whom she married March 30, 1969; and two sons, Dennis D. Brown of Greenville and Christopher Brown of Dayton.

She was born in Arcanum on November 23, 1916, the daughter of the late Ellsworth and Esta (Fellers) Fourman. Ruby was an employee of Fram (Allied Signal) in Greenville, retiring in 1974. She was a lifetime member of the Faith United Methodist Church, Arcanum, a former member of the Perdy Watters Post 665 American Legion Auxiliary, West Manchester. The Rev Duckwall Sunday School Class and the Circle of Women's Organization at the church. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold J. Pease, who died April 23, 1983, and Sister Bonnie Elliott. Ruby is survived by a Son John H. Pease and wife Maria of Indianapolis; Grandsons Dr. Gregory Pease and wife Dr. Mary Pease and Mark A. Pease and wife Jessica; Great Grandchildren Nicholas, Naya, George, Norah, and Ingrid Pease. Dale E. Garber, 80, of Arcanum, died Thursday evening, March 3, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Garber was born in Montgomery County on January 9, 1931, the son of the late Raymond and Geneva (Baker) Garber. He worked at Chrysler Products, Dayton retiring in 1992 and was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. Dale served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. Dale was preceded in death by his Brother Robert Garber. He is survived by his wife Florence (Cook) Garber, whom he married November 11, 1950; Son Danny Garber and wife Sandy of Arcanum; Granddaughters Jessica Best and husband Jamie and Kimberlee Bloom and husband Jeremy both of Arcanum; Great Grandchildren Morgan, Layna, and Levi Best; and Sister Thelma Studebaker of Troy. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM on Monday, March 7, 2011 at the Kreitzer Funeral Home, Arcanum with Pastor Susan Deverall officiating. Burial will follow in Mote Cemetery, Pitsburg. Joshua James Eiting (March 2, 2011)
Josh married Shirley (Bigham) Roll Eiting on August 9, 2002. Josh is also survived by stepchildren Jason & Nikki Roll, Katie & Nick Ellis, Maggie & Brian Knapke of Versailles, OH, Jacob Roll of Cincinnati, OH, and eight grandchildren. Siblings are Anne & Rob Klamar, Mitch & Ann Eiting of Versailles, OH, and Polly & Tim Grow of Minster, OH.
Josh graduated from Versailles High School in 1988 and attended the University of Dayton. Josh also served in the U.S. Army Reserves. His passion for aviation led him to the presidency of the Air America Foundation that restores historical military aircraft and he was a member of the Valiant Air Command Museum. Josh was a member of the Melbourne Beach Rotary Club in which he received the highest honor, a Paul Harris Fellow. To continue his service as a Rotarian he was involved with medical mission trips to Uganda, Africa through his club. He and his wife Shirley have lived in Melbourne Beach since 2005.
A celebration of Josh’s life will occur at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles on Monday, March 7, 2011 from 2 - 6 PM with prayer services at 3 PM. In lieu of flowers friends may make memorial contributions to the Air America Foundation.

Ruth Fern Anderson (March 1, 2011)
Mrs. Ruth Fern (Poling) Anderson, age 92 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 3:20 A.M. Tuesday March 1, 2011 at the Brethren Retirement Community Greenville, Ohio. Ruth was born February 6, 1919 in Rossburg, Ohio and the daughter of the late Henry & Laria (Bertram) Tegtmeyer.
She was retired from Second National Bank of Greenville and prior to that she had been employed at the former Whitecotton Drug Store and the Greenville Baking Company.
Ruth enjoyed arts and crafts, knitting, sewing, crocheting, and bowling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband William Eugene Buckingham, her second husband William Poling and her third husband John A. Anderson. Also her brothers Delbert, Bernard and Harold Tegtmeyer. Her sisters Lucille Walls, Mildred Boyer, Luella Gilmore and Infant Sister Ruby Tegtmeyer.
Ruth is survived by her daughters Joy Grody of Dayton, Brenda Miller of Centerville, Ohio and Shelba Fitzgerald of Greenville. Also 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Monday March 7, 201l in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Todd Reish officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 1 PM until time of the services in the funeral home.

Steven F. Barga (March 1, 2011)
Steven retired from Val Decker in Piqua. He formerly worked at Hobart Brothers in Troy and ALCOA Products in Sidney. Steven served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles and the American Legion Post #140 in Greenville
In addition to his mother, Steven is also preceded in death by a son, Dale Barga.
Steven is survived by his wife, Pauline M. (Curtis) Barga, whom he married March 11, 1972; son, Scottie Barga and fiancée Joyce E. Dynes of Palestine; daughter & son-in-law, Sandy & Stephen Davis of Versailles; grandchildren, Kasidy & Lynndie Davis; sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Nancy & Charles Hapner of New Paris; and numerous aunts, uncles, niece, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Fr. David Vincent celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery in Versailles. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Full Military Honors will be conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard.
Chalmer D. Cruze (March 2, 2011)
He was born December 31, 1924 in Darke County, son of the late Melvin T. and Esther L. (Strait) Cruze. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine W. Cruze on January 26, 2006, a daughter, Regina L. Hawes, and a sister, Doris A. Cruze.
Chalmer was retired from the U.S. Air Force having served as an intelligence officer for over 40 years. He was a member of the Ansonia American Legion and the Greenville VFW.
He is survived by his children, Thomas S. Cruze of Ansonia, and Jeri A. (Harlen) Camacho of Greenville; grandsons, Chad (Becky) Curtis, and Benjamin (Abbie) Hawes; two great grandchildren, Nolan and Leah Curtis; and two sisters, Phyllis Caldwell of Greenville and Marjorie (Roger) Cox of Polaris, MT.
Services with full military honors by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will be held Monday, March 7, at 10:30 a.m. at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Terry Haworth officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbottsville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2-4 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to State of the Heart Hospice.

Jerome Louis Brunswick (March 1, 2011)
Jerome Louis Brunswick age 53 of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 5:55 A.M. on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Hospice of Dayton. Jerome was born January 14, 1958 in St. Marys, Ohio, to Carl & Pauline (Mangen) Brunswick of Greenville.
Jerome formerly worked at Weaver Brothers in Versailles, where he was a dock worker for 20 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenville.
Jerome is preceded in death by his brothers, Michael Joseph & John Noel Brunswick.
In addition to his parents, Jerome is also survived by his brothers & sister-in-law, Robert Patrick & Vicki Brunswick of Versailles, Randal “Randy” Brunswick & Renie Bertke of Ft. Loramie, Alvin Brunswick of Greenville & Eugene “Gene” Brunswick of Greenville; sister and brother-in-law, Linda & Bruce Laub of Covington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Connie Schmidt Waggoner (February 25, 2011)
Connie Schmidt Waggoner passed away on Friday, February 25, 2011. She fought a courageous battle with lung cancer and was able to be at home when she was called home to be with God. Connie had moved to Troy after the passing of her first husband Charles F. Schmidt, Jr. in 2003.
She remarried on July 7, 2007 to Charles E. Waggoner. She enjoyed the last years of her life surrounded by beautiful trees and waters that surrounded their homes in Troy and Montezuma. Connie was born to James Robert and Ina Mae (Engle) Brown in Winchester, Indiana in 1949. She was preceded in death by both parents and her first husband Charles Schmidt, Jr.
She was an avid learner, with degrees from Edison State Community College, Capital University and Central Michigan University. Connie had a Masters Degree in Health Care Administration from Central Michigan University. Bachelors Degree in Accounting and Business Management from Capital University and also Associate Degrees in Business Administration and Accounting. She was certified by the American College of Medical Practice Executives. As a medical administrator, she was very active in building new medical centers, including an Imaging Center in Muncie, IN and a Cancer Center in Bakersfield, CA. She received numerous awards over the years including a national HERA award from Wyeth-Ayerst recognizing her achievements in womens and childrens health care.
A respected administrator, teacher, advisor and loving mother of two, she dedicated her life to the rearing and education of her children. She enjoyed traveling, volunteering at church, tending flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren. Connie was a member and very active at the First Presbyterian Church of Greenville and attended Community Bible Church in Tipp City and Montezuma Methodist Church in Montezuma.
She is survived by her current husband, Charles Waggoner; her children, Kimberly (Eric) Steele of Idaho Springs, Colorado, and Emily (Mark McDaniel) Schmidt of Greenville, Ohio. The light of her life were her three grandchildren, Kaitlyn Daisy Schmidt, Kaylee Mae McDaniel and Isaiah Keegan McDaniel. She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Nina Fouts of Troy, Evelyn (Jon) Warner of Hilliard, twin brother, Lonnie (Debbie) Brown of Hilliard, Donna (Tom) Eyerman of Phoenix, Jeff (Dee) Schmidt of Greenville and Sandra Marker of Greenville. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
